Museums, parks and famous buildings are typically the kinds of things you want to sight see while travelling. Right? But what about coffee spas, noodles walls and lanes made of bubblegum?

1. Yunessun Spa Resort, Japan

When we think of a nice hot spring, most of us imagine bubbling water jets and steamy water. But at the Yunessun Spa Resort in the region of Hakone, all that goes out the window. Here, you can bathe in the craziest liquids, including green tea, coffee, wine and even sake. They say it’s good for your health – as long as you don’t drink where you soak!

2. Bubblegum Alley, USA

Welcome to 21-metres of lip-smacking, bubble-popping fun! The weird Bubblegum Alley in San Luis Obispo, California, was established sometime in the 1940s or 1950s and has been a full “bubblegum” attraction since the 70s. Don’t forget to leave your own mark here by sticking your gum on the wall too!

3. Hair Museum, Turkey

As the song goes, if you’ve got hair, you should flow it and show it! And that’s exactly what’s happened at the Hair Museum in Avanos, Turkey. Creep down into this Guinness World Record cave and you’ll encounter around 16,000 samples of hair from willing women around the world.

4. Rat Temple, India

If you saw a rat in your home or in a restaurant, you’d probably squeal in disgust. In India, however, there’s an entire temple dedicated to 20,000 black rats! The Karni Mata Temple in Deshnoke – otherwise known as Rat Temple – was built as a dedication to the Goddess Karni Mata, who was supposedly reincarnated in rat form. Here, rats are protected, well fed and worshipped – and it’s considered an honour to eat any of the food that’s been tasted by the rats themselves. Yikes!

5. Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum, Japan

If a delicious cup of instant noodles is your poison, this strange museum in Osaka is surely worth a slurp. Named after Ando, the inventor of the instant noodle, this museum will take you on a crazed noodle journey, with exhibitions that allow you to make your own ramen and choose your own ramen flavours.

6. Sun Cruise Resort & Yacht, South Korea

Here’s an insane attraction that also doubles up as a hotel option. It sits on the eastern coast of South Korea and offers luxurious accommodation, complete with restaurants, a sky lounge, an observatory, a golfing range and even a surrounding theme park. The most ridiculous thing, however, is that while on board this “ship”, you’ll be treated to the sounds of recorded ocean waves and bird cries.

7. Museum of Carrots, Belgium

Situated in Liége, this tiny Carrot Club and Museum was started by quirky locals and is dedicated to the cultivation and display of carrots. There’s not a great deal going on here and the attraction essentially involves looking through a window at the rotating carrot exhibits. Awesome…

8. Prada Marfa in the Desert, USA

Tumbleweeds and cacti are no match for this ridiculous attraction, located in West Texas, near the town of Valentine. Prada lovers will adore Prada Marfa and the chance to buy Prada bags and other goodies here. Created as a “pop architectural land art project”, the store surprisingly attracts thousands of visitors each year. So, how desperate are you for a handbag?
