18 Best Musicals On Disney+ Not Called "Hamilton"

Or you can just watch Hamilton over and over again. No judgments here.

We hope you love the shows and movies we recommend! Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of revenue or other compensation from the links on this page. Oh and FYI — platform, prices and other availability details are accurate as of time of posting.

Unless you've been hiding under a Mickey-shaped rock, you're probably aware that Hamilton is coming to Disney+ on July 3!

    Lin-Manuel Miranda for president, honestly.

So, whether you're looking to pre-game the Broadway-original-turned-film with a slew of other musical treasures or you *know* you're going to want to go down a rabbit hole (Alice pun intended) of other sing-a-long movies after basking in Hamilton glory, Disney+ will have you covered.

    CBS

Here are other musical films on Disney+ you might want to add to your "to-watch" list:

    1. Newsies

    The Walt Disney Company

Another musical you can find on Disney+ to flood your screen with music and impeccable story telling. This version was filmed lived at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, California. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ragged band of "newsies" as they dream of a better life (through song, of course).

    2. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

    The Walt Disney Company

Why yes, I did binge this entire show in like three days (and you probs will, too). So, I'm more than qualified to tell you it is an underrated gem you absolutely should add to your to-watch with. It has it all! Young love! Drama! Music! Sassy teens! Humor! You'll find yourself singing "Just for a Moment" for weeks.

    3. And the entire High School Musical trilogy

    The Walt Disney Company

As if you can't hear a young Zac Efron belting out "we're sooooaring, flyyyiiing" just from looking at the image above. With not one, not two, but THREE musicals starring Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and the rest of the gang, you'll have hours of music-filled entertainment to keep you busy.

    4. A Celebration of the Music from Coco

This special event took place at the Hollywood Bowl and paid tribute to music of Pixar's Coco. Just when you thought you'd pulled it together enough *not* to cry through the movie, Disney+ brings out a 60-piece orchestra for a whole new way to experience the music. The way they brought the fan favorites from the Latin-American soundtrack to life on stage seriously blew my mind (and Eva Longoria and Benjamin Bratt, who host the show).

    5. Frozen and Frozen 2

    The Walt Disney Company

Whether you've seen Frozen hundreds of times (kids, amiright?) or only a handful, there's no better time to reacquaint yourself with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and the rest of the gang. And now you can also stream Frozen 2. The songs are honestly iconic and your entire household has probably memorized them by now. Treat yourself to some hot cocoa and have yourself a double feature (no, it doesn't matter that it's likely 90 degrees out OK).

    6. Fantasia

    The Walt Disney Company

I've been working from home for a few months now and I've found it super helpful to have music or a movie I've seen a hundred times in the background. Fantasia is the best of both worlds! A little Disney magic combined with the soothing sounds of an orchestra? It's a perfect mix and a must-add to your to-watch list.

    7. Annie

    The Walt Disney Company

In my opinion, the 1999 version of Annie is the best version (I'm sorry Jamie Foxx!!! It's just the way I feel!). With an all-star cast including Kathy Bates, Alan Cumming, Audra McDonald, Kristen Chenoweth, and Victor Garber, you know the musical performances are top-notch. Turn this classic on and before long you and your roomies will be crooning "the sun will come out tomorrrrroooow."

    8. The Lion King (original and live-action)

Cannnnn youuuuu feeeeeel the looooooove toooooniiiiight? SING IT WITH ME, PALS! Watch the original animated flick (it was my first movie in theaters, can you believe?), then follow it up with the new live-action version to compare. I mean, the live-action movie has BEYONCÉ in it. That was enough for me to turn it on.

    9. Mary Poppins

    The Walt Disney Company

I mean, this movie is practically perfect in every way! Whether you haven't watched it in years or you watch it so often you can actually sing all the words to "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," it's always a good time for a jolly holiday with Mary.

    10. And Mary Poppins Returns

    The Walt Disney Company

Looking for an extra helping of Lin-Manuel Miranda? Mary Poppins Returns is here to deliver! It's (shockingly, for historic Disney stans) just as charming as the first one *and* filled with songs you'll likely find yourself humming for the rest of the week. Don't even get me started on how wonderful Emily Blunt is. OH! And both Meryl Streep and Angela Lansbury make musical appearances. What more could you want?

    11. The Sound of Music

    Robert Wise Productions

Do you hear that? It's the hills. They're alive. WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!!! Now that we all have lots of time to spare, it's about time we spent three hours watching this classic Julie Andrews film. There's even a built-in intermission you can use to freshen up your snacking situation.

    12. Encore!

Do you typically have a hard time narrowing down which Broadway soundtrack to listen to? Same, which is why Kristen Bell's Encore! is the perfect solution for when you're not sure what you feel like listening to / watching. Each episode reunited former high school classmates to re-stage the musical the once performed together. From Grease to Beauty and the Beast, you won't be disappointed.

    13. Taylor Swift's City of Lover Concert

If you're interested in a different kind of musical break, you might want to give this live version of Taylor Swift's performance of her new songs from the Lover album a go! An acoustic Taylor is not one to be missed. You can find my rewatching her sing "Death by a Thousand" cuts until the end of time.

    14. Let It Shine

    The Walt Disney Company

A Disney Channel original movie about a songwriting competition and young love? I can't think of a single reason *not* to watch this movie. In the 2012 flick, Cyrus writes lyrics about his best friend Roxie and wins the competition — but his best friend Kris gets the credit! This wholesome movie is all about overcoming self-doubt and letting your true self shine!

    15. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas

    The Walt Disney Company

"What's this? What's this?" — a great freakin' sing-a-long, that's what. The musical stylings of Danny Elfman will be the perfect follow-up to your inaugural home viewing of Hamilton. There's just something so, dare I say, magical about watching Jack Skellington discover how special Christmas is.

    16. Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam

    The Walt Disney Company

My nostalgic heart is going to burst. If you haven't already, it's probably time to revisit the Disney Channel originals starring none other than Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers. It's summertime, so it's the best time to settle in for a back-to-back viewing of the movies all about a music camp competition. If you don't find yourself getting emotional over "This Is Me," I'm not sure we can be friends.

    17. The Disney Family Singalong special

    18. Beyoncé's Black Is King (coming soon!)

Queen Bey recently announced the upcoming July 31 release of her Disney+ film, Black Is King, which will serve as a sure-to-be incredible visual album. It was originally filmed as a companion piece to The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack, but now will represent so much more. I'm sure we'll all just be flipping back and worth between this and Hamilton for all of August.

    And, of course, Hamilton!
