31 Movie Trailers That Straight-Up Lied To Us About The Movie

"You're killing people." "No, I'm killing boys!" is an iconic Jennifer's Body exchange, and it wasn't even in the movie!!!

For most people, the decision of whether or not they're going to watch a film comes from the trailer. The trailer, and all promotional clips, serve to advertise the film. But sometimes...that advertising isn't very accurate.

    Graphic with many movie characters

Sometimes, trailers and teasers even include scenes that literally are not in the final movie, or are different in the movie. This can leave viewers feeling confused and misled, like the movie isn't delivering on their promises.

Here are 33 trailer moments that never showed up in the film, or were totally different when we saw them:

    1. In NOPE, we hear a bit about Em trying to make it in Hollywood, but we never actually see any of it in the film...despite multiple shots and locations of it in the trailer.

    2. We also see her crying while filming something, presumably not the (redacted for spoilers), which are all captured above them?

    7. Similarly misrepresented was the resurrection stone scene. In the trailer, Harry asks if his family, Lupin, and Sirius will stay with him.

    "Until the End"

His mother replies "always" in both the trailer and the film (below).

    "Always"

But in the trailer, it's Sirius who says "until the end" (which actually occurs a few lines before "always") — not Harry's dad, like it is in the film.

    9. A whole lot of Jared-Leto-as-Joker stuff was cut from Suicide Squad, despite his strong presence in the trailer. One of the scenes that was cut? This line.

"I can't wait to show you my toys."

    10. Another was June's/Enchantress' line below. Her character was also a large victim of the cutting room floor, as evidenced by shots of her in the trailer that weren't in the film.

    "Let's do something fun"

    16. Many scenes from the Morbius trailer weren't in the film. This includes Stroud telling Morbius he's been missing for two months. ... Not only does the line not occur in the film, but Michael does not go missing for two months, nor is he found on the ship.

"Then you were found on a container ship that washed up off Long Island."

    17. Also, this line, which was in basically every trailer, wasn't in the movie in full. The movie never mentions Venom.

"I'm just kidding, it's Dr. Michael Morbius at your service."

    21. An early trailer for Frozen featured Anna saying, "That's no blizzard; that's my sister!" while Kristoff hugs Olaf. Nothing like this happens in the film; in fact, the only similar animation comes as Anna is dying and trying to make it to Elsa, separated from Sven and Kristoff.

    22. Animated movie moments in the trailer but not the film are especially odd, considering how much work it takes to animate even a short scene. Like this scene from the Bolt trailer — Mittens never asked Bolt if he was in the Navy in the film.

    26. Similarly, in the trailer for Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Jim Carrey sneezes and says, "I am fighting something" right after it's explained that white people brought disease to the natives. He never says this in the film.
