When it comes to making TV shows and movies, it's pretty important for things to go as planned. But between forgotten lines and mishaps on set, that's not always possible – here are some moments that weren't meant to happen, but the directors like them so much they kept them in:
.When Jack was preparing to draw Rose like one of his French girls in Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio fumbled his lines, resulting in an adorably awkward exchange.
.In Scream, Billy hit Stu with the phone by accident when the fake blood made things so sticky that the phone stuck to Skeet Ulrich's hand.
.In the episode of Friends where Chandler dates Rachel's boss, things got a bit more heated than Matthew Perry had signed up for. According to the DVD commentary, his handcuffed arm pulled open a cabinet, resulting in a very real smack in the head.
.And while we're on Friends, it's clear that "Donald Trump wants his blue blazer black" was not the correct line, but instead of calling cut and saving that for the blooper reel, the cast stayed in character, taking the piss out of Chandler.
.In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione broke down Harry's kiss with Cho ends with some very real laughter from Rupert, Daniel, and Emma.
.Robin Williams was so good at improv that it’s impossible to tell that the whole face-mask-dripping-into-the-tea moment from Mrs Doubtfire was a clever way of trying to save the scene when his costume started melting off.
.Mia falling on the bleachers in The Princess Diaries may seem like something the character would do, but that was actually the result of Anne Hathaway losing her balance after slipping on a puddle.
.In Passengers, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt weren't expecting their bulky space suits to get in the way of their characters' first kiss, but they laughed through the blunder and it added to the scene.
.Robert Downey Jr.'s quick thinking saved the scene when Tom Holland completely forgot where he was meant to be sat in Captain America: Civil War.
.Jim popping Dwight's fitness ball is one of The Office’s most iconic openings, and it came to be by mistake – John Krasinski and Rainn Wilson were expecting the ball to deflate, rather than pop suddenly.
.In Clueless, Alicia Silverstone had no idea she was mispronouncing Haitians, resulting in a great debate.
.In Almost Famous, Penny wasn't supposed to ask William to join her in Morocco twice – Kate Hudson didn't realise Patrick Fugit was actually asking her to repeat her line, so she stayed in character.
.In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter was supposed to web Gwen to the hood of the police, but it wasn’t in the script for her to yell at him – that, and Emma Stone’s reaction to her slip-up were too good to cut out.
.And finally, one of the most memorable moments from Zoolander was born out of Ben Stiller forgetting his lines – "but why male models?" was only meant to be said once.
