Americans On TikTok Are Just Discovering Cotton On, And Aussies Are Baffled

The most surprising crossover episode I've ever witnessed.

Now, I'm not here to bag out Cotton On. More often than not, I’ve been able to dig through the racks and find a last-minute outfit for under a hundred bucks — which is no easy feat and almost impossible elsewhere in Australia. But I’ve recently discovered the apparent love the USA has for the homegrown Aussie brand.

I stumbled across a store once when I was visiting family in San Diego — and it really was a sight for sore eyes for the homesick, 16-year-old me. But I didn’t quite understand the extent of excitement our mates across the Pacific had for the clothing brand — that got us through many a free-dress day — until it started to blow up on TikTok.

But I'm not the only Australian perplexed by this phenomenon — Aussies are flooding the comments, confused about the enthusiasm, but also about the existence of the store in the USA.
