If you know anything about Australia, you'll know that our food choices can be somewhat questionable at the best of times.
But that doesn't stop us from voicing our opinion when it comes to the things our friends across the Pacific Ocean like to stick in their gob.
So Reddit user u/seasidesiren posted this thread, asking Australians to outline which American foods they find disgusting — and here are our favourite responses.
1. "I couldn’t believe the size of portions for things when I went over there and we went looking through Walmart! And the ‘cheddar’ cheese….no thanks!"
—u/carlybarney
2. “Your soft drink (soda) sizes are fucking ridiculous — no one needs that much sugar.”
—u/Ninestring
3. "Oreos are overhyped. Arnott's Delta Creams any day."
4. "Your chocolate is vile. It tastes like bile. Sorry for the rhyme."
—u/iilinga
"Hershey's chocolate. I ate a Hershey's Kiss once and it was like literal vomit. Then I tried another one just in case it was an acquired taste. It. Was. Worse. I'm never one to pass up chocolate but damn, those things were so foul I had to give them away."
5. "What America has done to cheese is a crime against nature. That liquid stuff in a can, just...Why?!"
6. "Biscuits and gravy. They served it to my mum when she was in Texas on holiday. What the hell you guys?!"
7. "One other thing that most Australians don't get about American food — Starbucks. WTF makes you guys consume that crap?"
—u/Schedulator
8. "American breakfast cereals are awful. I tried Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Lucky Charms once and it was just bizarre. Why do you people eat candy for breakfast? Breakfast is supposed to be a slow release food to give you long-lasting energy to get through the day, not just sugar and marshmallows..."
9. "Mac & cheese is disgusting. I can eat any other brand and flavour of instant pasta, but mac & cheese tastes like vomit. Cherry cola also tastes like medicine to me."
10. "'Flavoured' yoghurt that is also brightly coloured and sweet — like bright pink strawberry yoghurt (adding the bits of strawberry is enough)"
11. "Candy corn is straight up terrible. I honestly don't get its appeal at all."
—u/viper9
12. "Beans, or at least the canned varieties available here. Sickly sweet."
13. "Deep fried butter and candied bacon come to mind."
—u/goater10
14. "Your regular bread tastes like donuts. Impossible to find bread that wasn’t dessert."
—u/_vanderlyle
15. "Things like peanut butter and 'jelly' are just weird — I don't know what it’s meant to be but it isn’t magical at all."
16. "'Biscuits' are just bad scones. You don't put jam and cream on them either, so what's the fucking point?"
17. And finally, "What the hell are grits?"
