The Most Romantic of Songs to Listen to by the Fireplace

There’s something about a fireplace — be it gas, electric or all natural — that brings couples together. Like peanut better with jelly, salt with pepper or crime with the Oakland Raiders football franchise, love songs — some better than others — go perfectly with the romantic powers of a fireplace.

Since 2006, Taylor Swift has been composing love ballads worthy of seven Grammy Awards, which is perfect, because that’s the precise number of Grammy Awards that she’s won throughout the course of her career. At five feet 10 inches tall, Taylor believe in unconditional love, which explains why she was rumored to have dated Ed Sheeran. This is girl power to the max.

‘I Love You Always Forever’ - Donna Lewis (1996)

Though Donna sings as if she was plagued with an incurable speech impediment, her 90s classic became a smash hit with young lovers who spent their weekends coasting around roller rinks, from Utah to New York, during “couples only” songs.

‘Truly Madly Deeply’ - Savage Garden (1997)

‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ - Whitney Houston (1986)

For those who’ve taken the time to equip their homes with a gas fireplace, Whitney’s emotional lyric states, “I wanna feel the heat with somebody.” This couldn’t be more appropriate.

The Goo Goo Dolls saw their song, “Iris,” reach the top of Australian, Canadian, Italian and American music billboards. Imagine the success the song could’ve seen if Nicolas Cage weren’t the star of “City of Angels,” the very movie on which the song debuted.

‘Feel Like Making Love’ - Bad Company (1975)

Outside of Utah, need more be said? The purpose of a gas or electric fireplace is to stay warm, is it not? Be it through boring convection or something else, warmth is a must.

‘Ring of Fire’ - Johnny Cash (1963)

While a fire ring is generally associated with camping, Johnny Cash’s greatest hit is still the perfect love song for indoor romance. Unbeknownst to most, the song is about the rockier side of Johnny’s relationship with June Carter, who just so happened to co-author the song alongside her future husband.

‘I Melt With You’ - Modern English (1982)

With undertones of marshmallow genocide, many out there are not fans of this piece. However, nothing is steamier than consuming roasted marshmallows with a lover. Perfect for the fireplace.
