A Quick Guide To A Productive Summer Day

Ah, summer. Days stretching ahead and no responsibilities. No studies and no classes. So what do you do? Well common sense would say absolutely nothing. Although even that could become dull. So maybe with your final few days of summer, you could try being productive…? Here is a short guide.

    1. Get up at a sensible time

And then hit the snooze button. There are some limits to being productive.

    2. Morning coffee.

Catch up with a school friend. Starbucks is acceptable- a more adventurous coffee or tea room much more preferable! I have spent much of my summer discovering new and exciting places to meet up with old friends.

    3. Sight-seeing.

Even in your own city. Who cares- have you actually visited the sights in your hometown? And School trips definitely don't count.

I may be somewhat biased due to residing in Edinburgh where the festival is in full swing, but I'm sure most places have at least a few things to visit!

    4. BBQ!

IT'S SUMMER. it's bound to be hot at least for one more day. Get some friends, find an open space, and have a soiree in the sunset with some burgers and beer.

    5. More drinking.

Summer is for beer gardens. And cocktails. And general drinking whatever time of day. One of the most sociable and enjoyable activities in the world. Do it.

    (But drink responsibly)

    6. Read.

This is basically the only chance that you have long stretches of time to read something that YOU actually want to read.

Read whilst sunbathing. On a bus. In a cafe. On the sofa. Just read.

    7. Spend time with family.

You may really dislike seeing the family so much, even moving back in with them. Squabbling siblings and nagging parents may not scream joyful summer, but if this is one of few chances for you, then go for lunch with them. Take the younger siblings out for ice cream and the cinema. Be a stand up member of the family so that they miss you when you leave again.
