I Tried The Makeup Remover With Over 1,000 5-Star Reviews From Amazon To See If It Really Works

Is it really worth your money?

Hello, my name is Farrah and I definitely do not clean my makeup brushes as often as I should. Why? Because I'm lazy!!!! HOWEVER, I did happen to see a makeup removal product on Amazon that had over 1,000 5-star reviews. So I decided to give it a try.

Ecotools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo is currently $6.79 on Amazon and claims to both clean AND condition your brushes. It's hypoallergenic and made with plant-based ingredients. But most importantly...will it clean all the gunk off my brushes?!

The directions say to dampen the dirty brush, then dab a bit of the cleansing shampoo on top. I had to wash this brush twice, but WOW was it clean once I did.

I have to say, the cheap side of me thought, "What if I just tried soap? Then I don't have to spend money on a brush cleaner!!!!" But oh boy...I was wrong. You'd think soap would effectively clean off a brush, but it left a LOT of lingering makeup compared to the cleansing shampoo.

Finally, I tried my dirtiest brush — the one I use for eye makeup. It wasn't until I started cleaning it that I realized this particular brush had white tips. IT HAD BEEN SO LONG SINCE IT HAD A DEEP CLEAN THAT I LITERALLY FORGOT.

Anyway, here's what my dirtiest brush looked like before and after. It looked almost perfectly restored!!!!!

Do I always trust Amazon? Hell no. But after trying this particular product for myself, I can absolutely see why 1,000 people rated it so highly. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to breakouts, regularly cleaning your makeup brushes with this cleansing shampoo might help. DON'T BE LAZY LIKE ME!!!
