This "Mad Men" Easter Egg Is Totally Adorable

Trudy Campbell sure looks different...

Any Mad Men fan knows that the complicated and often fierce character of Trudy is played by Alison Brie.

Trudy was first introduced in Season 1, Episode 4, "New Amsterdam," when she surprised Pete and swung by the office.

Pete was not thrilled, to say the least.

Pete was not thrilled, to say the least.

But what you may have missed was Trudy's brief cameo in the pilot episode.

She first appears when Pete is talking about his impending nuptials, and he holds a photo of Trudy to gush over her.

But wait... that's not Alison Brie!

It's actually a photo of Judith Weiner, the mother of Series Creator / Executive Producer Matthew Weiner.

"We had no idea if the pilot would go or if we would ever meet Trudy. Or if Pete would even really get married," Weiner explained to BuzzFeed over email. "I knew the picture was period and obviously it's an homage to my mother, who is Trudy age and was married around the same time, 1959."

Judith is still alive and still married to Matthew's dad, Dr. Leslie Weiner.
