While there were rumors that Disney was having a helluva time casting its new live-action version of Aladdin, it looks like everything has changed...

...because it was announced at D23 in Anaheim, California, on Saturday that Mena Massoud has officially been cast as Aladdin.

And if that name doesn't sound familiar that's because he's a relative newcomer in the acting world, but just LOOK at that smile!

OK, moving on to our Princess Jasmine, who will be played by Naomi Scott (aka Kimberly, the pink Power Ranger).

The reactions from Twitter have so far been pretty mixed:

While some complained that Scott isn't Arab (her mother is Indian), it's actually not clear where Aladdin was meant to be set.

Ultimately, though, we'll just have to wait and see!

No word yet on who will be playing Abu, Jafar, or Iago...
