    1. A waterproof pouch to keep your phone and other "doesn't play well with water"-type gadgets safe. Not only does this keep it safe, but you can still use the touchscreen with it, meaning you can take underwater photos galore 🐠🐟🐡.

It fits any phone up to 100mm x 170mm (or about 3.9 inches x 6.7 inches). It's also a great fix for keeping out sand and dirt (and a great option for runners, if you're caught in the rain but still want to be able to toggle through your music options).

Promising review: "I purchased this case in July for an upcoming canoe trip with a friend, and as luck would have it, we flipped our canoe. Being the rebel that I am, I chose not to wear my phone around my neck, and so it, my ID, and my debit card ended up at the bottom of the river and I just assumed it would be discovered a thousand years from now and placed in a museum as an ancient artifact. Fast forward to this week. I was contacted via FB by an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office diver and guess what he found? Yup, my phone case with all of the contents intact and dry as a bone! He had to cut the case open, but there was not one single drop of water in it and he ended up purchasing a case for himself because he was just that impressed!" —Julie McDonald

Get it from Amazon for $6.79+ (available in 14 colors).

    2. A set of cooling towels that get chilly the moment you soak them in water and wring them out — a godsend for when you're looking for quick ways to cool down when the temperature outside starts to spike.

A blue, pink, green, and gray cooling towel rolled up next to their carrying cases, which come with keychains

It also keeps its chill for hours and will immediately get chilly again when you soak it in water and repeat the process.

Promising review: "These are wonderful and work! Purchased to use for Disney trip and they were perfect. They have no chemical smell. You just add water and ring them out. Each comes with its own case and clip. Stayed cool for hours. Great for heat and nausea. Just wrapped around neck and instant relief!" —Christina Hatfield

Get a set of four from Amazon for $13.99.

    3. An appropriately named "Butt Be Dry," which is basically a lightweight fanny pack that unfurls into a small waterproof, mud-proof tarp for your tush, so you can park it wherever you need. Basically, wet benches and muddy grass at parks or sporting events just became free sitting game again.

Promising review: "This is awesome! It is wonderfully made and serves a great purpose. It arrived promptly on Monday and Tuesday I used it on a hike up Tiger Mountain in Washington State. We got to the top and there was snow on the benches; I was able to easily sit down and enjoy my lunch with my hiking buddy. Cool product - thanks!" —Lee

Get it from Butt Be Dry on Etsy for $19.99 or on Butt Be Dry's site for $19.99 (available in nine colors).

    4. A pair of dreamy polarized aviator sunglasses with 100% UVA and UVB protection against the harsh rays of the sun (plus that air of ~maybe I own a motorbike, maybe I don't~ mystery).

    A reviewer in the sunglasses

Promising review: "Awesome purchase, great price! Really dig these, love the fun colors. Get compliments every time I wear them. I keep them in the holders they came with since the frames are slightly thin. Holding up well through my travels, hard to beat the price!" —Sylvia P.

Get it from Amazon for $8.49 (available in four styles and in two-packs).

    5. A 3D mouth bracket you can clip to the inside of your face mask to keep you from breathing in fabric, which is *especially* handy if you get spring allergies.

People also swear by this for preserving their lipstick, minimizing glasses fog, and making it easier to talk for long periods of time.

Promising review: "Due to allergies I always have a stuffy nose. Wearing this under my mask made it much easier for me to breathe. Would recommend to any who don't like the mask tight against their nose." —Gail Overton

    6. Or a popular water-resistant Under Armour face mask designed to sit off your lips, giving you plenty of room to breathe without getting fabric sucked into your mouth mid-run, whether you're in the heat or the rain. It's also made with the company's Iso-Chill fabric, so it doesn't overheat despite being bulkier than other masks.

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

Hey, there's my face again! This mask has the approval of a *ton* of runners and athletes in its reviews, but also runners IRL. I run in Central Park four days a week and I am constantly seeing other runners in this mask. I have two of them in my own run rotation, and I'm impressed not only by how well they stay in place and don't get over-sweaty and gross on long runs, but by how well they wash up and maintain their shape. The straps are super soft on your ears, too. I've gotten to used to straps chafing on longer runs that I was surprised by what a difference this made. I gifted one of these to my dad for Christmas, too, and it's his go-to for walks and errand running. It's just an overall easier mask to breathe in (while still maintaining a tight fit and keeping the people around you safe!).

Promising review: "The best mask. A friend recommended this mask and it is wonderful. I wear it when I run outside — it allows me to breathe, while keeping me safe. It is a thick mask, and the ear bands are 'light' and made of elastic. Perfect." —LSM

    7. A delightful little tool called the "Bug Bite Thing" that suctions on all kinds of bug bites to reduce swelling, itchiness, and redness.

A BuzzFeed editor's arm with a bite on it "before," a pic of the bug bite tool, and a pic of the editor's arm after it's been suctioned with swelling/redness reduced
    Rebecca O'Connell / BuzzFeed

This works on mosquitoes, bees, wasps, biting flies, sea lice, and more (although TBH, if this list of bugs gets any longer I may just stay indoors forever!!).

Promising review: "I have always suffered, so badly, from mosquito bites. For some reason they love me and I get more bites than the average person. I get giant welts that itch for days that most anti-itch creams don’t even help. Itching turns them into open wounds, and I even have some scars from some old bites. I saw a post on Facebook about 'The Bug Bite Thing' and I bought it on Amazon as a last resort. I am absolutely in love with this product! It is the first thing I’ve used that stops the itch permanently! I am so happy I found this product. I've even used it on my children aged 2 and 7. I highly recommend this product!" —Megan

Get it from Amazon for $9.95.

    8. A pair of popular quick-dry water shoes that reviewers love for everything from walking on rockier beaches to kayaking to washing their cars. They're flexible and comfy like a sock, but protective against nefarious objects like sharp rocks and stray Legos.

Promising review: "I bought these shoes a couple years ago before a river hike. UM THESE ARE AWESOME. They lasted a long time and the only reason I bought these yellow ones were because I wanted a new color, haha. My older pair did start to wear out in the toes from scraping them on rocks and such when hiking but still no holes in them. These shoes feel like socks but with enough of a sole that you can walk on gravel with no problem. It really is like walking barefoot. Also, these are the only water shoes that I have worn that do NOT let a bunch of debris into the shoe making you constantly have to take it off to empty it or just deal with the irritant. You can play on the beach with minimal sand stuck between your toes. Thoroughly impressed by that. So with that, I do recommend if you are a half size to size down so they are snug, otherwise the sock like ability to keep stuff out might not work so well." —Samantha Lindsay

Get it from Amazon for $11.68+ (available in seven sizes and 44 colors).

    9. A UV-blocking canopy shade you can easily install on an uncovered porch to keep things from getting too toasty for you and your furriest friends.

A beige canopy shade over a small outdoor porch

The canopy is super flexible and can be pulled taut so you can install it to fit your specific space — you just need four places to mount each corner, like roofs, walls, trees, or poles, but they don't have to be level to each other.

Promising review: "I waited more than 18 months to write this review because I wanted to see how well this held up in a California coastal town with unrelenting sunshine (yay drought year?). It is shading outside my roommate's western bedroom window, providing filtered light for some plants, shade for our dogs when they go out to play and pee, and protect my hydrophobic dog from the rare rain. So far, so good! In fact, so good that I bought a second one to extend my patio cover during quarantine and I'm about to buy a third because I bought a full sun baby tree not realizing it needs less sun during the first couple of years." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $35.99+ (available in three colors and nine sizes).

    10. A "sport-brella," which is an SPF 50+ maneuverable personal umbrella with a universal clamp that'll latch onto any chair you own. Boom, instant shade no matter where you've parked your human self, whether it's the porch, the beach, or the park.,

Psst — a lot of reviewers swear by this for easy hands-free shade solutions for strollers and wheelchairs as well!

Promising review: "I originally bought this about three years ago and my husband used it and liked it so much recently with all the 'COVID driveway happy hours' he bought an additional one for him. It is easy to maneuver and angle to block the sun, but nonintrusive. It is easy to fold and replace in the carrying case. It is worth every penny." —Sarah B.

Get it from Amazon for $19.99 (available in two sizes and eight colors).

    11. A DEET-free plant-based bug repellent to repel mosquitos for up to six hours *without* repelling all the humans in your general vicinity, because unlike other popular repellents, this has a lovely lemon eucalyptus smell.

a reviewer's hand holding the bug spray bottle

Promising review: "This stuff works fantastic. It lasts for hours and no chemical smell. It has a definite lemon smell but not like a furniture polish lemon smell. I had no bites and I was out for about three hours. Bugs didn't bug me at all and it has no DEET. You would need to reapply if you're getting in and out of the water so just keep that in mind. Mosquitoes LOVE me so if it works on me, then it should work on anyone." —Gina Central

Get it from Amazon for $4.93.

    12. A handy dandy lightweight water bottle attachment that cinches right onto your backpack strap so you can lock and load with extra water on hot days without sacrificing even more room in your pack.

    Arroyo Seco Ultralight/Etsy

Arroyo Seco Ultralight is a US-based, teen-owned Etsy shop established in 2020 that specializes in flexible water bottle holder attachments.

Promising review: "This bottle holder works great! The way that it attaches to the pack harness, places the bottle inside of your arm swing to where you are not bumping it with your upper arm. New, it is a little tight on a bottle, but soon stretches just enough." —Harry

Get it from Arroyo Seco Ultralight on Etsy for $20 (available in three main colors and 16 secondary colors).

Psst — you can find other water bottle sizes for the backpack strap holder on their shop page!

    13. A popular streak-free anti-fog spray you can quickly apply to eyeglasses, sunglasses, and face shields to prevent them from fogging up while you're wearing a mask, which is *particularly* annoying in humidity.,

A heads up that this works *super* well for some reviewers, but not all — note that this is meant for non antireflective-coated lenses, and the instructions for use are very specific. To apply, spray a small amount on both sides of your lenses, and use your fingers to rub it across the whole area. Let it sit for a full minute, then wipe with a dry soft cloth. Once they're fully dry, you should be raring to go!

Promising review: "If you have been looking for a solution to your glasses fogging up when you are wearing a mask: you are here. I have been using this now for over eight months. The anti-fog coating will last most of the day. And this is going from air-conditioned car to 80 degrees plus humid weather in south Georgia. I put in longevity as one of my ratings because it’s a nice size bottle and only a little dab will do yah. Small business, made in America, and I even got a letter in the mail asking if everything was good. So if you wear glasses and a mask and have troubles click buy. With confidence." —Merrill Guice

Get it from Amazon for $10.55.

    14. A chic BruMate insulated can cooler so all your beloved White Claws, Red Bulls, and LaCroixs can stay cool as a cucumber in the sun, and you can enjoy them while taking your sweet time.,

A transparent wine glass with freezable liquid in it

Promising review: "My new favorite wineglass! I was given a set of the grey wine freeze cups as a gift and I love them so I saw they had other colors and bought this one. My biggest pet peeve with regular wineglasses is that the wine goes back to room temperature too quickly. These cups keep frozen for hours so you can have multiple glasses of wine and keep the bottle out instead of in the refrigerator. I love the color on this one too!" —Amazon Customer

I don't use it much but have been enjoying outdoor workouts doing the quarantine. I wanted a speaker that worked well but wasn't too expensive. I am SO happy with this purchase. The sound quality and connectivity are excellent and the price is great. They fold up small enough to where you can comfortably carry all four in a small shopping bag or tote. They can be inflated by just holding them in the direction of the wind on a brisk day or by running around in a big circle on a calm day. They have been a lifesaver during the stay at home/quarantine period this spring. We haven't tried them on water yet, but they claim to function as rafts as well. We're looking forward to using them during our next beach trip." —Amazon Customer

*Another* promising review: "I purchased this for a 6-year old to play on during rainy quarantine days and it has exceeded expectations. While we occasionally use it for lounging, it also doubles as a (pretend) pirate ship, white water raft, space shuttle, quicksand pit and swamp monster. It also serves as a slide, seesaw, and wrestling opponent for a 50 lb kid without having to reinflate. I realize these are all off-label uses of the chair, but after 10 weeks stuck in the house with this kid, we're desperate. I used a hair dryer (set to cool) to quickly inflate this indoors versus flapping myself to death like an idiot. The static electricity generated from the material is also great for collecting dog hair, so I count this as a discount Roomba." —Anna V.

    34. A blister-preventing balm that basically magics an extra layer between your skin and your shoe, so you can go on all your summer hikes without worrying about breaking in your new boots.

A model rubbing balm on their heel

Promising review: "Do your feet a kindness and buy this now!! Stop suffering from hotspots and blisters!! The first time using my new hiking boots on the trail ended up with me hobbling back to the car due to the painful blisters new boots create. I know, I should have broken them in, but I didn't. I was excited to get back out on the trail with my new boots but hesitant with fear of more blisters. I did my research on how to break on boots, what the best socks are for hiking, how to treat blisters and most importantly, how to prevent them. Although I trusted the reviews of Foot Glide enough to order it, I was still skeptical putting on my brand new boots and hitting the trail. Welp, I'm happy to report, this stuff is LEGIT! Applied it to my heel and pinky toe area, both areas that were so painful on the last hike. There isn't a scent and it's not greasy, could barely tell I had put something on my skin. I tested it out on the same trail and felt no pain. Not even a hot spot!! This is now a staple in my hiking gear and will apply it before every trip." —Dacia Rae

If you have rosacea, then it's a miracle product and you should buy this immediately. Recommended it to my mother, who was experiencing hot flashes due to menopause and she loves it too. You won't regret it." —SP077

Psst — lots of reviewers mention that their dogs seem to really like the feeling of the silicone bristles!

Promising review: "My yard is an absolute mud pit! I tried everything to clean my two German Shepherds' paws. This is the only thing that works! The silicone bristles must feel good on their paws because they actually stand still and let me clean them. The only complaint I can say is that it hurts your back after a while leaning over them, but I will take that any day rather than cleaning my floors 100 times! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solution to their pup's muddy paws!" —Kendra Frankovsky

    A box of wipes

Promising review: "Wow, these things work REALLY well. We don't have a shower at work and I wanted to start riding my bike to work... 12 miles each way. After a test run with these on a hot day after a ride (sweaty and stinky), they worked like a charm. I did my first ride to work last week and arrived quite sweaty. I only had to use one wipe (cleaning strategically) and air-dried for 15–30 seconds. No residue and I felt (and more importantly... smelled) as clean as if I just took a shower. As the day pressed on, I continued to feel clean... even more so than after showering. These things are fantastic." —green freak

    40. A UPF 50+ protective running hat for shielding your face from sunburns and keeping the sweat out of your unsuspecting eyeballs.,

Promising review: "I went on a run with this hat, and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very lightweight. The hat completely covers my head from the front and reaches around a low pony tail, which is why I love it. It is reflective too. The really cool part is how it folds. There are two creases on the bill, so it can completely fold up. And when you’re wearing the hat, the bill stays firm and in place. I was just trying to get a good price on a running hat, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality and features. I would recommend this hat. I’ll be getting another one for my friend." —Calista Brown

I find I use this daily for small household chores but also on my weekend warrior trips for camping, drinks, etc. DO NOT buy the knockoffs, quality and functionality differ GREATLY." —Kerri

    42. A cooling elevated pet bed made of a breathable fabric that prevents "hot spots" and increases air flow, so your doggo can safely people-watch with you outdoors all summer long.

Two dogs perched on an elevated red cooling mat in the sun

Promising review: "I bought this bed so my dog could lie outside on the porch without having to lie directly on concrete. It took approximately 20 minutes to put together on my own (a bit difficult to get the last screw attached), though it was fairly easy to construct without assistance. As soon as I had it put together, I put it outside and used a treat to alert my dog to its presence. She had no hesitation stepping onto the bed and now really enjoys it! It's been about a month and it seems to be holding up well. She loves to sleep on it and usually decides to lay outside on her Coolaroo bed after dinner until bedtime when I call her inside." —Megan
