Angela Bassett Just Said "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" Is So Good, It's Probably Going To "Top" The First Movie

    "Marvel, can I say that?"

I know you're waiting patiently for more details about Wakanda Forever, the widely-anticipated upcoming sequel to 2018's smash hit Black Panther.

We still have quite a few months to go before the film's release, but returning star Angela Bassett recently said the suspense will be well worth it come November.

According to the actor, who appeared on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, Wakanda Forever is "going to be amazing," and may even outshine its predecessor.

Of course, that won't be an easy feat. Black Panther broke a half-dozen box office records when it opened in theaters nearly four years ago, and went on to sweep the Academy Awards nominations in 2019.

Angela appeared in the film alongside a truly star-studded cast, which included Lupita Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, and Chadwick Boseman, who played the first movie's titular superhero. He passed away from stage-four colon cancer in 2020.

"He was such an example, such a leader, [an] amazing talent, we all know that...big heart, great intellect," Angela said of Chadwick during her Ellen Show appearance.

She also noted how everyone involved in Wakanda Forever hoped to "raise the standard" in his honor. And if her comments are any indication, it sounds like they managed to do it.

"It's going to be amazing. It's going to top one," she told Ellen DeGeneres. "Can I say that? Marvel, can I say that?"

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens Nov. 11.
