Chris Hemsworth Says His Wife Had To Sacrifice Her Career For Him

The actor opened up about the realities of juggling his career and personal life.

There's no denying that Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky, along with their three children, are one adorable family.

However, having children coincided with Chris's career going from strength to strength after he landed the role of Thor in 2011. And he's now revealed that juggling his work with family life has been a struggle.

In fact, he's admitted that Elsa has had to sacrifice her own career to ensure that his thrives.

Speaking to GQ Australia, Chris explained:

In terms of work, [Elsa has] certainly given up more than I have. She'd like me to step back and be at home with the kids more, and of course, I want that too. But I feel like I'm at this crucial point in my career. I've just got to set up for longevity or I'll slip off.

He went on to reveal that having three children aged 5 and under means that the pair have to actively dedicate time to their relationship.

    Chris explained:

My wife and I fell in love, had kids and didn't really see each other for a few years, then fell back in love. Once you have children, every instinct and every moment of your time is consumed by that. You've got nothing for each other. So, make sure you have a date night even if it's once in a blue moon, because most of the time you're just too tired and you'd actually prefer to sleep.

And when it comes to romance, Chris has decided he needs to up his game.

Asked whether he ever writes Elsa love letters, Chris said:

I don't, but maybe I should. There's no shortage of how much I tell her I love her. But I guess there's no detail in it, why or how.

Better start putting pen to paper then, Chris!
