I Bought The $25 Target Office Sweatpants And Have Barely Taken Them Off Since

Yes, I fell for the TikTok siren call and haven't looked back (in my v comfy pants) since.

I, a person who always ALWAYS wears dresses, won't stop talking about these $25 pants.

It all started when I read a story about the viral TikTok pants from a HuffPost colleague, scratched my head, and thought "OK, I'm gonna order some."

And then I bought them in the black pinstripe (now no longer available) and heather gray. I would've ordered them in more color ways back then in early December, except many were sold out of my size. And after I finish writing this review, I'm probably going to order them in a few more colors. 

Reviewers helpfully recommend sizing down one and I found this to be true. I wear a size 14 and oftentimes go between L and XL. I ordered the L and they fit perfectly. In fact, I'm able to layer fleece-lined leggings underneath them — which I did on a December trip to Vienna, Budapest, and Prague where temps dropped down to 5 degrees Fahrenheit. (More on that below.)

TikToker Jacquelyn Fricke featured the pants and seemingly, everyone on the internet bought at least one pair. But for very good reason! They're available in four prints, three solid colors, and in sizes XS–4X!

In the nearly two months since I bought them, I've worn them like you'd drive a rented car. They've become my new uniform for flying, doing all kinds of travel activities, begrudgingly walking to the grocery store, meeting friends to watch my college basketball team destroy everyone in their path, and just about any other activity that requires I leave my home fully clothed.

Here, I wore them in heather gray in Prague on a trip where apparently there was a huge cold front in Europe and it snowed. But then the snow stuck! Which several Praguers told me never happens. Just when I'm in town. So to get through the mainly-outdoors touristy tasks, I layered these pants with some opaque fleece-lined tights to fight the frequent, frigid gusts. I paired them with a thrifted Polo hand-knit sweater, a giant Aerie blanket scarf, Noize metallic puffer, a now-sold-out Aerie furry bucket hat (here's an Amazon bucket hat alternative), and Vans slip-ons (with two pairs of thick socks...they ended up being great snow shoes, trust me).

On this trip I walked ~10 miles a day and teetered over patches of ice. These pants kept me comfy and flexible, given their loose fit. In fact, I ended up wearing them all but two days of the trip, including on the airplane there *and* back. 

But I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about the incredibly comfy, stretchy waistband that's the real star of the show.

Now just because they're elastic waist doesn't mean that they LOOK like an elastic waist. It lays flat and still looks quite polished — especially if you're showing a little stomach (like I am in the first pic in this story). It's also perfect for, say, when you're eating a bunch of fried food at a street market or slumped in the most awkward position ever on a train to a different city for the day. 

Though the real star of the show is the soft, brushed texture. They truly do feel like loungewear!

Turns out that sometimes when I'm wearing them, I forget that they aren't PJ pants. That shouldn't come off as a shock to me given the ways in which other purchasers have fawned over them on the internet. Over Christmas staying at my parents', I changed into PJs but absentmindedly left on these pants I'd been wearing all day. It was a few hours later while curled up and watching an intense British drama that I realized I was still wearing my day pants!
