33 Of The Best, Worst, And Most Underrated Taylor Swift Songs According To Me

~Don't blame me~ if you disagree.

The lists below are the Best, Worst, and Most Underrated Taylor Swift songs according to the biggest Taylor Swift expert I know, AKA me. Don't @ me about any of them.

Also, all of the songs on the Worst list are still better than the majority of music ever made and Mozart could never. Byeee!

    πŸ’€ THE WORST πŸ’€

    1. "Bad Blood"

    Big Machine Records /

Still better than "Swish Swish". This is the only Taylor Swift song I have ever actively disliked to the point of skipping it almost every time I listen to 1989 (which is often). Then I saw Taylor perform it mashed up with "Should've Said No" on the Reputation Tour and now I dislike it less. Her power!

Best lyric: You say sorry just for show / If you live like that, you live with ghosts

    2. "Stay Stay Stay"

This song is boppy and cute but I have high expectations of Taylor and "Stay Stay Stay" does not meet those expectations. But Red still deserved the Grammy.

Best lyric: You took the time to memorise me, my fears, my hopes, and dreams

    3. "Better Than Revenge"

    Big Machine Records /

L-I-S-T-E-N. Back in 2010, I was living for this response track to the Jonas Brothers' "Much Better". But it's 2018 now, and we don't stan the fact that it's kind of slut shame-y. Taylor has admitted she was in the wrong for it though, so it's all good!

Best lyric: Come on, show me how much better you are

    4. "Girl At Home"

This song comes immediately after "The Moment I Knew" and "Come Back... Be Here" on the deluxe edition of Red and, to be honest, any song would have a hard time following those masterpieces.

Best lyric: While she waits up, you chase down the newest thing / And take for granted what you have

    5. "Speak Now"

    Big Machine Records

This was a good name for an album but the song itself is just...not my favourite. Probably something to do with the line "wearing a gown shaped like a pastry". Pastries are delicious and I won't hear a word against them.

Best lyric: She floats down the aisle like a pageant queen / But I know you wish it was me

    6. "End Game"

    Big Machine Records /

This song goes here purely because it's the only song on Reputation that I occasionally skip and I'm running out of reasons to dislike Taylor songs.

Best lyric: Your handprint's on my soul / It's like your eyes are liquor, it's like your body is gold

    7. "Welcome to New York"

    Apple Music

The verses of this song have some beautiful lyrics but it's, like, 70% chorus and therefore goes on this list because like I said, I'm having trouble coming up with songs I don't like. Also the lyric "you can want who you want, boys and boys and girls and girls" punched homophobia in the throat.

Best lyric: Walking through a crowd, the village is aglow / Kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats

    8. "This Love"

Could've been replaced with the superior and less depressing "You Are In Love", which is only on the deluxe edition of 1989, and therefore I am bitter.

Best lyric: Tossing, turning, struggle through the night with someone new

    9. "Mean"

    Big Machine Records /

Again, I appreciated this as a teen but she's kinda past this now??? It's basically "Look What You Made Me Do"'s younger, less impressive sister.

Best lyric: You have pointed out my flaws again, as if I don't already see them

    10. "I Almost Do"

It comes too soon after "All Too Well" in the Red tracklist for me to deal with another sad song so it's ending up on this list. I'm sorry.

Best lyric: I bet it never, ever occurred to you / That I can't say hello to you and risk another goodbye

    11. "Today Was A Fairytale"

    Big Machine Records /

IDK, "Love Story" did fairytales better.

Best lyric: Can you feel this magic in the air? / It must've been the way you kissed me

    πŸ‘‘ THE BEST πŸ‘‘

    1. "Delicate"

    BBC /

The first time I heard this song I burst into tears because it's so good. I'm not even exaggerating when I say it's the perfect pop song and when the beat hits on "handsome, you're a mansion with a view" I tear up more often than not. Also, Taylor flying over the audience in a rainbow dress singing "Delicate" during the Rep Tour raised millions for the LGBT.

Best lyric: We can't make any promises now, can we, babe? / But you can make me a drink

    2. "Sparks Fly"

Will I EVER get over the fact that Taylor wrote this song when she was 16 years old, before she even released her debut album? Absolutely not! It's a masterpiece!!!

Best lyric: My mind forgets to remind me / You're a bad idea

    3. "All Too Well"

    CBS /

Whenever Taylor performs this song live, she prefaces it by saying there's one song fans always want her to play more than any other, and that's because this song is flawless. It punches you in the face with feelings in the way that only Taylor Swift can, and it's the reason she's the Queen of Bridges (even though every lyric in this song is basically poetry).

Best lyric: You call me up again just to break me like a promise / So casually cruel in the name of being honest

    4. "Last Kiss"

    Big Machine Records /

I rarely listen to this song because every time I do I cry. This is second only to "All Too Well" in the feelings-face-punch department.

Best lyric: All that I know is I don't know / How to be something you miss

    5. "Style"

    Big Machine Records

A bop of the highest order. Everything about this song is pop perfection and I won't hear a word against it!

Best lyric: Could end in burning flames or paradise

    6. "You Belong With Me"

I don't care what anyone says, there's something magical about jumping up and down in a stadium and screaming along to a song that all 60,000 people know every word to and that is the power of "You Belong With Me".

Best lyric: Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find / That what you're looking for has been here the whole time

    7. "Enchanted"

    NBC /

A classic. The song literally everyone quotes for their tour signs or captions when they post their meet and greet photos. Taylor knew what she was doing here and I respect that.

Best lyric: Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes, and vacancies / Vanished when I saw your face

    8. "I Did Something Bad"

The word "shit" was first invented by Taylor Alison Swift in 2017. This is rumoured to be the next single from Reputation, and if it's not, I'm going to sue music.

Best lyric: I never trust a narcissist, but they love me / So I play 'em like a violin, and I make it look oh-so-easy

    9. "Love Story"

Iconic, and in the actual way, not just in the way I say everything I enjoy is iconic.

Best lyric: I sneak out to the garden to see you / We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew

    10. "The Story Of Us"

    Big Machine Records /

This almost made it into the Most Underrated list but then I remembered it got a music video. This lowkey has some of the best lyrics on Speak Now, and it could go all feelings-punch on us, but it's actually a bop! I appreciate you, Taylor.

Best lyrics: This is looking like a contest of who can act like they care less / But I liked it better when you were on my side

    11. "Don't Blame Me"

Taylor's vocals on this song cleared my skin and watered my crops. (This also was going to be in the underrated category until I realised I've given myself a certain number of spaces and can't just put Taylor's entire discography in there.)

Best lyric: My name is whatever you decide / And I'm just gonna call you mine

    1. "State of Grace"

    Big Machine Records /

Would've been number one on the Best list if it had been a proper single, but alas, there is no justice in the world. The Recording Academy should've given Red the Grammy immediately upon hearing the opening drum beat.

Best lyric: You were never a saint, and I loved in shades of wrong / We learned to live with the pain, mosaic broken hearts

    2. "Dress"

When this came out everyone was like ~oooh, it's Taylor's sexiest song yet~ but it's actually way more emotional than it is sexy. The breathiness of the vocals and the tempo of the pre-chorus perfectly capture that feeling of wanting to be with someone you maaaybe shouldn't.

Best lyric: All of this silence and patience, pining and anticipation / My hands are shaking from holding back from you

    3. "Cold As You"

Before you listen to it, I need everyone to know that this song is on Taylor's first album, which she released when she was sixteen. It's basically impossible to pick a best lyric from this song because every word is more heartbreaking and poetic than the last.

Best lyric: You come away with a great little story / Of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you

    4. "Holy Ground"

Probably the second best song on Red, only because "State of Grace" exists, but I change my mind on this at least once an hour.

Best lyric: We blocked the noise with the sound of "I need you" / And for the first time I had something to lose

    5. "I Wish You Would"

    Apple Music /

We love a sad bop! In my humble opinion, this is one of the best songs on 1989, and EVERYONE pays it dust!!! It's time for this to stop. Give your local "I Wish You Would" some love this weekend.

Best lyric: I wish we could go back and remember what we were fighting for and I / Wish you knew that I miss you too much to be mad anymore

    6. "Hey Stephen"

People actually shit talk about this song because its lyrics may not be Taylor's best, but it's adorable and it's the song that made me fall in love with her music in the first place. "Stay Stay Stay" wishes!

Best lyrics: I've seen it all, so I thought / But I've never seen nobody shine the way you do

    7. "Dancing With Our Hands Tied"

The final, beautiful component of the Reputation Holy Trinity: "Delicate", "Dress", and "Dancing With Our Hands Tied". I'm glad we had to wait longer than usual for Taylor to release an album because she blessed us with this song. Then she blessed us with an even more beautiful acoustic version on tour.

Best lyric: My love had been frozen / Deep blue, but you painted me golden

    8. "Haunted"

When Taylor played this on the Speak Now Tour she brought out a giant bell to hit because this song goes HARD. Also, violins.

Best lyric: You and I walk a fragile line, I have known it all this time / But I never thought I'd live to see it break

    9. "The Moment I Knew"

Taylor has never performed this song live and put it on the deluxe edition of Red when it should've been right there next to "All Too Well" and for those reasons it is criminally underrated by Taylor herself.

Best lyric: It was like slow motion, standing there in my party dress / In red lipstick with no one to impress

    10. "Wonderland"

Another underrated bonus track from the deluxe edition of 1989 which should have had a music video like "New Romantics" but was instead given nothing. Despite what Taylor might sing, THIS is why we can't have nice things.

Best lyric: Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? / Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?

    11. "Treacherous"

Taught me how to spell the word treacherous without looking it up first. An icon.

Best lyric: All we are is skin and bone, trained to get along / Forever going with the flow, but you're friction

Taylor, if you're reading this, feel free to make any of these underrated songs the surprise B-stage song on your upcoming tour dates. It's what they deserve. BYE! 😘
