Pink Opened Up About Her Family's Experience With COVID-19 And Said She's "Never Prayed More"

"He still, three weeks later, has a 100 temperature."

In a post on her Instagram account on Saturday, singer Pink revealed she had tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

In the post, Pink said she had been tested two weeks ago after she and her 3-year-old son Jameson began showing symptoms. She added that they were recently retested, and their results came back negative, suggesting they'd recovered from the disease.

"My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor," Pink wrote. "Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative."

She went on: "People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities."

During an Instagram livestream with author Jen Pastiloff, Pink opened up further about her family's experience with the disease, saying it's been "really, really scary" and revealing that Jameson had had "the worst of it".

"There have been many nights where I've cried, and I've never prayed more," Pink said. "It's funny, you know, at one point I heard myself saying, 'I thought they promised us our kids would be OK.'"

Later, she added: "In the beginning all we were hearing was, 'If you're young — this is 65 and older, the kids, thank god, are fine.' But at the end of the day, we're all pretty fit in this family."

"Jameson — he's 3," she went on. "He's perfectly fine. We live in the country. The worst thing that attacks us here is pollen or mountain lions. And he's been really, really sick and it's been really, really scary."

She also revealed that she's been keeping a journal of their symptoms, and said Jameson still has a temperature of 100 three weeks later.

She said:

I'm hoping that we're out of the woods, but this thing is a roller coaster. Just when you think you're better, something else happens. So it's been three weeks for me, four weeks for him.

She later added that while she had never intended to make their diagnosis public, she ultimately decided it was the right thing to do in order to raise awareness of the organisations she had chosen to donate to.

In Saturday's Instagram post, Pink revealed she was donating $500,000 each to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund and the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
