Jeffree Star Says $2.5 Million Worth Of Jeffree Star Cosmetics Has Been Stolen

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, the makeup artist said he believed the theft to be an "inside job" carried out by a team of "professionals".

Makeup artist and YouTuber Jeffree Star says $2.5 million worth of makeup — including unreleased products — has been stolen from his Jeffree Star Cosmetics warehouse.

The announcement came after Jeffree tweeted on Monday that he was spending his night "with the FBI tracking down black market makeup sellers".

In a video posted to his YouTube channel on Tuesday, Jeffree called the situation "heartbreaking" and a "nightmare".

"At around 1am [on March 16], one of my stock and shipping facility warehouses was broken into and more than $2.5 million of product was stolen from me," he says in the video.

The stolen products apparently include a number of Northern Lights highlighter palettes, 5000 Platinum Ice highlighter palettes, lipliners, and an entire shade of the currently unreleased Magic Star concealer.

Jeffree says that he believes the theft was carried out by a team of "professionals" who had been "tipped off" by someone who had worked at the warehouse temporarily, as the concealer had been "tucked away" in a separate temperature-controlled area of the facility.

According to Jeffree, his cosmetics line is stored in several different warehouses in the same complex, which was shown in his YouTube series with Shane Dawson last summer.

"I am so horrified that someone knew [that particular warehouse] wasn't secure enough yet, and they hit us really hard," he explains in the video. "They came in through the roof. It was a very professional job — it was a team of people. When you watch footage of this stuff, it's so gut-wrenching to see people just take your shit and put it in a truck and steal something that I have been working on for so long."

He goes on to say that he is working with local authorities and the FBI to track down the thieves, who he believes stole the products in order to sell them on the black market.

Photos of the stolen goods have since appeared on websites like Facebook Marketplace, where people are offering to sell them "early". In the video, Jeffree explains that his name is purposely misspelled in these posts to make them more difficult to track.

"We've tracked down some of the product, but there are still so many units floating out there," he says. "So if you guys see this packaging or C5 before the launch, just know that it is stolen. It is illegal goods and I would love to try and get more of it back."

Jeffree says he will now launch the concealer — as well as brand new setting powders — earlier than planned.

In tweets posted a few hours after his video, Jeffree expressed gratitude for the authorities helping him investigate his "concealer heist".

He also said a "major player" in the burglary has been arrested. Police haven't yet publicly commented on the case.

"The makeup black market is so twisted and has several layers," he continued. "I can't believe something I worked so hard on is floating around all over the world."
