Camila Mendes And KJ Apa Posted Emotional Tributes To Luke Perry After His Death

Mendes remembered him as "an authentic man who took pleasure in offering us his guidance and wisdom".

Fans around the world were left shocked and heartbroken on Monday by the news that actor Luke Perry had died following a massive stroke at the age of 52.

While many remember him from his role as Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills 90210, a whole new generation got to know him as Archie's dad, Fred Andrews, in Riverdale.

Since news of his death broke on Monday, Luke's Riverdale costars have been paying tribute to him with heartfelt posts on Twitter and Instagram.

I’m finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us. I’m thinking of his family. His children. I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss.

Yesterday, Camila Mendes — who plays Veronica Lodge on the show — joined them, posting a photo of herself and Luke at a party with an emotional caption.

"An authentic man who took pleasure in offering us his guidance and wisdom," Camila wrote. "His presence was healing; he had the ability to make you feel comfortable and at ease within seconds of seeing him."

"I will never forget the collective shock and distress we experienced when the news broke on set," she went on. "We lost a dear friend."

KJ Apa — who plays Archie Andrews — also honoured his onscreen father yesterday with this Instagram post.

He captioned the photo with just four simple words.
