Order From The Chick-Fil-A Menu And We'll Recommend An Underrated '80s Film To Watch

Your taste in food is unique, to be sure. If this is what you eat for lunch, we're sure you can make it through David Cronenberg’s _Videodrome_ without losing your guts from its body horror. A financial flop, the sci-fi film failed to attract audiences who flocked to Cronenberg’s other films. A pity, as the film’s themes of control through technology have only become increasingly relevant with the invention of the Internet and the spread of social media. The film itself is a mind-bending experience as James Woods’ character unravels a strange conspiracy surrounding a mysterious television station, with Cronenberg’s signature visual style. You’re sure to be entertained, if you can stomach the effects.

_Videodrome_ (1983)

What? Why did you come if you weren’t going to order anything? Well, if you can enjoy the emptiness of sitting at a restaurant without a meal, you may enjoy _Xanadu_ as well. But let’s get this out of the way first: _Xanadu_ isn't a movie _anyone_ is going to watch for the plot. Its appeal comes from being a catchy musical with a unique visual flair, rather than the story of Gene Kelly’s attempts to open a nightclub or the romance between Olivia Newton-John and Michael Beck. Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra made the superb music for the film, and the soundtrack album was arguably a bigger hit than the film itself, reaching platinum status twice over in the U.S. alone. _Xanadu_ has great set pieces for its musical numbers, and a wonderful sense of art direction, and can be a great viewing experience, if you can make through its less impressive script.

_Xanadu_ (1980)

Your interest in the lighter calorie options of Chick-fil-A shows a need for some real entertainment, since your diet certainly isn’t giving you any. _Top Secret_ is a criminally underrated film compared to the Zucker brothers’ other films, such as _Airplane!_ This comedy shares their signature sense of humor, but combines it with an interesting plot and a mashup of genres perhaps never seen on film before or since: it’s an Elvis Presley-style musical mixed with a Cold War spy movie. The hilarity of this movie is sure to please anyone with a sense of humor, so give it a watch.

_Top Secret_ (1984)

Your preference for powerful flavors shows an appreciation for powerful acting. And it’s hard to beat Tim Curry’s performance in _Legend_ in that regard. Ridley Scott’s _Legend_ was a flop financially, but had a wonderful fantasy setting, epic music, and fantastic visuals. It’s a dark fantasy story showcasing the talents of Tom Cruise, Tim Curry, and Mia Sara in a throwback to an older style of storytelling. And as mentioned before, it’s hard not to love Tim Curry’s incredible acting and makeup in this movie!

_Legend_ (1985)

Your strong affinity for the signature styles of Chick-Fil-a shows your like of well-defined, dynamic flavors. Well, while John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China was a financial flop, it happens to be one of his strongest titles. The only thing that rivals the incredible action set pieces in the film is the hilarious performance given by Kurt Russell. The movie itself is a martial arts action film set in San Francisco’s Chintown with some supernatural elements that give it a creative spin. The movie is a blast and a must-see.

_Big Trouble in Little China_ (1986)

Your taste for deep, savory flavors shows your appreciation for more artistic, creative endeavors. _Opera_, one of Argento’s horror masterpieces that received no theatrical release in the U.S. during its debut, has these qualities in spades. While the film tends to be overshadowed by Argento’s more successful films, _Opera_ has a production quality above works like _Suspiria_ or _Deep Red_, showcased in the fantastic opera performance that sets the conflict into motion, when our protagonist must deal with a series of murders that occur during her performance in _Macbeth_. But the compelling mystery is just gravy on top of the incredible visuals and the score, so it’s a movie you’re sure to enjoy.

_Opera_ (1987)

Your preference for the spicier side of the menu shows a hunger for thrills and action. Russel Mulcahy’s _Highlander_ has all that you need. An action film that flopped at the box office, _Highlander_ has an compelling and creative storyline, great action set pieces, and a legendary soundtrack accompanied by Queen, with such iconic songs like “Princes of the Universe” and “Who Wants to Live Forever” coming from their work on this movie. It’s great fun seeing Christopher Lambert sword fighting Clancy Brown on top of a building, so it’s an experience you’re sure to enjoy.
