Jan 6th 2010: YouTube Porn Day

As a response to the suspension of the YouTube account of the user Lukeywes1234, 4chan has orchestrated its first attack of 2010.

    • This is the image they sent to an undisclosed number of recipients prior to January 6. (click here for high-res)

    • The BBC's Interactive reporter Siobhan Courtney talks about the investigation into the 'video attack'.

    • This is one of the tribute videos to Lukeywes1234...

    • Here's the Reddit thread on how it all happened (the thread contains explicit language)

here's an excerpt: A few days ago /b/ decided to make that kid their "savior". He was just some kid they found who liked Star Wars, video games, and Harry Potter. So, suddenly, having done only a few videos about Luigi and various other things, he started getting a lot of subscribers. The kid freaks out. He makes a video where he's beside himself in excitement, and that was only after being at like 100 subscribers. Within 12 hours he broke 10k. I still haven't figured out the point of it all. Maybe they had a moment of altruism and wanted the kid to feel good about himself (and maybe even get some cash from Youtube, which is perhaps why he got banned). Maybe it, like most memes, sprung from nothing and snowballed out of control. Either way, I kinda feel bad for the kid now. He just wanted a little corner on Youtube where he could post up his Luigi show and other things and a meme killed it for him.
