Season 3 Of "Stranger Things" Broke A Huge Record For Netflix In Just 4 Days

Hawkins fans and seasoned binge-watchers, you've done it again!

There's a very good chance that if you weren't out beachin', barbecuin' or otherwise bein' outdoorsy last week, you were probably inside watching Stranger Things Season 3, which came out on July 4...

And even though it's only been out for five days, this season apparently broke a huge, Starcourt Mall-sized record for Netflix:

On Monday, Netflix announced on Twitter that 40.7 million household accounts have watched the show — and 18.2 million have already finished all eight episodes!

.@Stranger_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records! 40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.

    Netflix

All within those first four days!

That means this new season of Stranger Things is on track to break Netflix's last big record — when more than 45 million accounts watched the movie Bird Box within seven days of its release, back in December.

Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box — best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!

^^But of course, that was Netflix's record for a 2-hour film, whereas Stranger Things is basically like an 8-hour one!

The most diehard Stranger Things fans, of course, weren't terribly surprised...

@netflix @Stranger_Things every stranger things fan:

If anything, most fans were like umm hold the phone??? Who hasn't finished???

@netflix @Stranger_Things You‘re telling me there are still people who haven’t finished the season yet? Let me move my bang so I can read that again

Who are these people with self-restraint/weekend plans?

Because after all, who among us could really resist a whole yummy new season of Hawkins' finest?

And even though, according to David Harbour, we're supposed to get at least one more season, fans are still using this opportunity to put out a desperate plea:

@netflix @Stranger_Things so hear me out.. either put out at least 20 episodes per season or put out a new season every 6 months because 8 episodes a year is just cruel

Please. Suzie? Netflix? Are you getting this distress call?

In any case, while you're either rewatching your fave episodes or still working your way through the season, you can catch up on all of our Stranger Things coverage here!
