This Model Received A Botched Eye Tattoo And Now She's Trying To Warn Others

"Just please be cautious who you get your mods from and do your research. I don't want this to happen to anyone else."

This is 24-year-old model Catt Gallinger from Ottawa.

Three weeks ago Gallinger received a scleral tattoo, which is basically just a tattoo that colors the white parts of the human eye.

However, due to what Gallinger describes as a mixture of "undiluted ink, over injection, and not enough/smaller injections [sites]" the tattoo became infected and by the next morning her eye was swollen shut.

Though Gallinger has been on a steady stream of steroid drops and antibiotics for the past three weeks, her doctors say that it's unlikely she'll regain full vision in her eye. "It will either go completely or stay a blurry mess," she said in a video posted on Facebook.

Gallinger shared these pictures on her social media pages to warn others who might consider getting a scleral tattoo about the risks involved with such a tricky procedure.

In the video posted to her Facebook on Tuesday, Gallinger urged those watching to learn from her mistake. "I would never recommend anyone do this. I would never recommend that this is a good decision," she said.

Gallinger is not the first person to have complications after receiving a sclera tattoo. Earlier this year Dr. Paul R. Freund and Dr. Mark Greve from the University of Alberta presented a case of a 24-year-old male who suffered severe vision loss just three days after receiving a sclera tattoo.
