    Bitcoin addresses are too long. For example, this is a bitcoin address: 1B9aqSLCEK6d3zzNP8sXGHZE2pUdW1ZvhF

    Now imagine, you'd like to print this on a business card or some type of paper collateral for marketing. Maybe you want to share this on social media. Or, what if you want someone to get the QR code, look up information, see it on the blockchain, you can share this address: https://blockchain.info/address/1B9aqSLCEK6d3zzNP8sXGHZE2pUdW1ZvhF

    Yikes! It's even longer. What is a bitcoiner to do? With this "long address" problem bitcoin has, I created the Bitcoin Address Shortener. It shortens bitcoin addresses on the blockchain, and you can enter in a custom name, something that you can remember. Like this: btcaddr.es/david
