I Tried Cannabis Mints For The First Time, And Yup, I'm A Fan Now

I mainly use cannabis products for pain relief in the form of balms, bath salts, and tinctures.

So when I found out that cannabis mints existed, I thought it would be interesting to try them out. The ones I tried in particular are called "Old Fashioned THC Mints," and they're from Lowell Farms.

In case you're unfamiliar, Lowell Farms is a California-based organic cannabis farm.

They pride themselves on growing flowers with only organic fertilizer, never using synthetic pesticides, paying their farmers a "proper living wage," and using natural materials "from seed to sale."

And the Old Fashioned THC Mints are their first-ever edible. They're infused with 2.5 milligrams of cannabis for a microdose experience.

The ingredients are fair trade cane sugar, Fibregum, agar powder, fair trade fractioned coconut oil, peppermint oil, Madagascar vanilla bean extract, and, of course, cannabis extract.

Here were my questions going into the taste test:

1) What will they taste like?

2) Would they have a nasty aftertaste?

3) Would they even work?

My initial thoughts were that the packaging is very pretty and cleverly designed. (You have to use a special twist knob to pop open the airtight seal.) And, to my pleasant surprise, they smelled like candy canes. Festive!

So, what did they taste like? Just like they smelled...like candy canes.

The mints were sweet and mildly pepperminty — there are definitely "stronger" mints out there, so this seemed like more of a palate refresher than a true breath mint. However, if I didn't know these were cannabis-based, I would never have guessed.

Was there a ~nasty~ aftertaste? Nope!

I was worried that these mints would leave a kind of medicinal or strange aftertaste, but they honestly did not. Another pleasant surprise.

And finally, did they work? Yep.

I opted to try just one ("for beginners," as the packaging says). The result left me feeling calm and my body relaxed. The experience didn't last particularly long, but I imagine that with a larger dose (i.e., more mints at a time), your high would be stronger and last longer.

These are great! If you're a fan of cannabis products, you'll probably dig these. If you're looking to cleanse your palate after a particularly garlic-heavy meal, there are obviously stronger (and cheaper) mint options out there. However, if you're looking to get "the perfect microdose experience," these are the ticket. I could see myself using these on occasion, especially since they're handy for on-the-go situations thanks to their cleverly designed, airtight tin.
