20 Times People Saw Into The Future Or Had Glitch-In-The Matrix Moments That Are Creepy But Interesting

Freaky deaky to say the least.

Recently we shared our stories of psychic moments/glitches in the matrix, and we asked the BuzzFeed Community to share some of theirs with us. Here are some of the most compelling ones we read:

1. Lingering premonitions.

"This happens to me frequently: I won't be able to get a snippet of a TV show or movie out of my head all day. For example, Joey from Friends with the turkey on his head. The whole day at work, that thought will persevere in my brain, bubbling up to the top. Then I'll go home, turn on the TV, and it will be the exact moment of TV I thought of all day. Before anyone asks, I've never had this happen with lottery numbers, but really wish I had."

2. Eighteen eggs.

"I regularly make a bunch of hard-boiled eggs to leave in the fridge for snacks, egg salad sandwiches, or whatever, and I had done just that. I emptied a full 18-pack of eggs into a pot, boiled them, cooled them, but when I put them back into the carton, there were only 16. I am certain that the carton was full because I bought it earlier that day. I never found the other two eggs. Since living in this house, it is the third time (that I’ve noticed) something has disappeared from the kitchen. I am also missing a knife and a small pan."

3. Hospital smells.

"A few years ago, before I had my driver's license, my mom came to pick me up from class, and as I was walking toward her, I suddenly got a whiff of hospital. I've spent a lot of time in hospitals, and they all have a very distinct smell to them, kind of like cheap fabric softener and a freshly cleaned air conditioner. That's exactly what I smelled when I was walking toward her. She then told me that my sister had gotten in a car accident and was in the hospital."

4. A friend's embrace.

"One night when I was in ninth grade, I fell asleep on the couch watching a movie and was startled awake. I tried catching my breath while checking the clock when all of a sudden I felt an overwhelming sense of warmth and peace come over me. I remember thinking this is how a really good hug feels. The next morning, I got a phone call saying that my best friend had been in a car accident and passed away, at the same time that I was startled awake."

5. Sinking boat.

"Prior to leaving for a fishing trip, I told my dad that I thought he was in danger. I'd had a dream that he died, and just knew something would happen. Two weeks later, he walked in the door and told me I saved his life. He was on his boat when it started taking on water, more than he was able to pump out. He remembered what I said and knew the boat was going down.

"So he pulled up to the first bit of land he saw, salvaged what he could, and watched his boat sink. The search and rescue team found him two days later on a small island in Dale Hollow Lake. If I hadn’t warned him, he probably would have been stuck in the middle of the lake when the boat went down."

6. The voice.

"I was at an intersection near my house. I had a green light to turn right and the intersection was clear, but I heard a voice, clear as day, tell me to stop and look at the intersection. Just then, a big red truck blew through the intersection against the light. If I had turned, he would have hit me and I probably would have been seriously injured or killed. I now take any gut feeling or voice I hear very seriously."

7. Sky spoon.

"One time I was walking with a friend and a spoon suddenly fell from above and landed next to us. There was nowhere nearby that it could have fallen from, no trees, no buildings, nothing, and it fell straight down, so it wasn't just thrown at us. We still have no idea where the spoon could possibly have come from, but my friend kept it."

8. Sinister Ryan.

"In high school, my brother had an acquaintance named Ryan. I had met him a few times but tried to keep my distance because he kind of gave me the creeps. Fast-forward about five years after high school, and I hadn't thought of or heard anything about Ryan for a long time. But for some reason I randomly dreamed of him one night. In the dream, he was following me through a house all sinisterlike. As I was backing away from him I asked, 'Hey, Ryan, how are you? What have you been up to?' His answer was, 'I've been in jail. You should know that, you put me there.'

"I woke up freaked out but quickly forgot about it because I had to get ready for work. During lunch that same day, I was in the break room eating and shuffling through the newspaper (pre-smartphones) to kill time. I started reading the local crime briefs, and there was a picture and a blurb stating that Ryan had a court appearance that day. I didn't read what the charges were because it was so weird that I slammed the paper shut and cut my lunch short. Still creeps me out to this day."

9. The phone call.

"One night while I was in college, I had a dream that I was sitting at my desk and my roommate was sitting on her bed when I got a call from my mom saying her ex-boyfriend was dead. It was so vivid that I told my roommate. A few weeks later, I was sitting at my desk, my roommate was on her bed, and I got a call from my mom telling me he was dead for real."

10. A father-daughter bond.

"I have always had some sort of psychic connection with my dad. The first time we noticed it was when my dad went on a business trip. As he was leaving, I started throwing a tantrum, which was unlike me because my dad traveled frequently and I never freaked out or got upset about it. But later, while my dad was in Switzerland, there was an avalanche that trapped my dad in the small village he was in for more than a week. They had to helicopter supplies to the town."

11. 6:55 p.m.

"My grandpa died about a year ago. We knew it was coming, so my husband and I were on our way to the nursing home, hoping to see him one last time. We had to stop at my parents' house on the way there to meet up with my dad and brother-in-law. While there, all the lights/power went out. I immediately asked, 'What time is it?' My brother-in-law checked his phone: 6:55 p.m. We all knew. When we arrived at the nursing home, our intuition was proved correct. My grandpa had passed away at 6:55 p.m."

12. Furniture shopping.

"My girlfriend and I were planning to drive to Ikea, but the night right before, she had a dream that I passed away due to an accident. I myself had a dream that I was stuck in a car crash and trying to ask for medical help. We agreed it was weird. However, it was only when my mom asked us to drive very carefully, because she had a bad feeling about it, that we decided not to go. We hadn't told her anything about the dreams. I made sure to keep an eye on the news that day and was shook when I saw there had been a multiple-vehicle collision on the highway we were supposed to take, around the time we were supposed to be driving there. Freaked us all out."

13. California dreamin'.

"When I was around 7 years old, I had a dream of going to Disneyland and riding on a ride that flew over oceans, valleys, and fields. There was even a part where we flew over orange trees, and you could smell the orange. I told my mom about it the next day, and she said that sounded like a fun ride. Fast-forward three years, and my mom and I went to California Adventure right after it opened. We got on Soaring Over California, and when it got to the orange-tree part, we just turned and stared at each other."

14. Parakeet premonition.

"When I was younger, I had a nightmare that I came home from school and went to check on my pet parakeet — as I did every day — and she was on the floor of her cage, dead. The vision stayed with me; I just couldn’t shake the bad feeling. When I came home from school that day, I immediately went to her cage, and that’s when I found her: dead, in the exact same place I'd spotted her in my dream."

15. PODIATRIST.

"I dreamed I was babysitting my neighbor’s son, and my neighbor said to me, 'Before I go, do you have the number of his podiatrist...his PODIATRIST...his PODIATRIST?' I woke up with the word echoing in my mind, wondering what it was all about. Then my mother called to say my little brother had lost his state championship spelling bee the day before...on the word 'podiatrist.'"

16. Shared headaches.

"When I was a teen, I was chilling in my room one night when suddenly I knew two things: My head hurt, and it wasn’t actually MY head that hurt. It was a specific friend of mine whose head was hurting. I just knew something was wrong with her. I tried to reach her but couldn’t. The next day, I tried again and reached her family, who told me that the night before, she had been in a car accident in a convertible. It flipped, she hit her head, and she had to get staples in her scalp."

17. Explosion in the sky.

"When I was a teenager, I dreamed about an explosion and people falling through the sky. It was so real, I could feel the heat. I woke up terrified. A couple hours later, we heard a boom and saw what we thought was an odd cloud in the sky. Turns out it was the Columbia space shuttle, exploding high above us in northern Texas."

18. Church service.

"My husband and I were in a very small church in a small town in Oklahoma. Right as our church service started, my husband leaned over and whispered in my ear, 'We need to make a plan for if a shooter comes in here.' I looked at him and he was shaking, and white as a sheet. I helped him calm down, we moved to a pew near the back of the church, and made our escape strategy. Throughout the whole service, his ears wouldn't stop ringing and he kept looking over his shoulder as if he knew a shooting was imminent. When church let out, it was all over the news: The mass shooting at a small church in Texas had occurred within the same 15-minute window my husband had his panic attack."

19. A loose floorboard.

"I was on a traveling dance team and we were set to perform at an amusement park. As we were getting ready to go, I had an overwhelming feeling that something not chill was going to happen. I told my mom and sister, 'Man, I feel like I'm going to get hurt today.' They both said I was being dramatic and we went about our day. I made it all the way until the finale of the show, where I had to slide on my hip across the stage. I felt a piercing stabbing in my thigh and looked down to see a 3-inch-long piece of wood lodged in my thigh. I had to go to urgent care to have it removed. The downside: I didn't get to enjoy my day at the park. The upside: When my team returned the next year, they had completely redone the stage so it could never happen again."

20. And the layoff.

"In 2008 I was on vacation with my family. My dad couldn’t go because of his job. He had called and I answered, and before he said anything I asked him, 'Did you lose your job?' He said, 'No, why did you ask?' I didn’t have an explanation; it just blurted out of me. The next day, everyone in my dad’s department got de-staffed due to the recession and cost cuts. It still weirds me out."
