Gwyneth Paltrow Wants You To Use Coconut Oil Instead Of Lube

"If it is safe to eat, it is generally safe to apply."

The Goop Kween herself, also commonly referred to as "Gwyneth Paltrow," took to her $200 smoothie lifestyle website to talk about why you should ditch your conventional lube when it comes to sex for..........

YES! GOODBYE LUBE! HELLO COCONUT OIL!

Ms. Goop reached this alternative to lube in a Q&A interview with Dr. Maggie Ney, a co-director of the Women’s Clinic at the Akasha Center in Santa Monica:

Goop: Any non-toxic alternatives to lube that you would recommend? I.e., would you suggest something simple like coconut oil, or are there ramifications to using anything at all?

Dr. Ney: When it comes to lube, if it is safe to eat, it is generally safe to apply. If a lubricant is needed, I recommend organic coconut oil, olive oil, aloe vera gel, or almond oil—they are free from preservatives and are safe alternatives to conventional lubricants.

Now, now... don't get too excited yet!

Before you start slathering up your sex bits with some coconut oil, Dr. Ney says you shouldn't use this alternative to lube IF:

    You experience reoccurring yeast infections...

Dr. Ney: I like to remind my patients that every body is unique and will respond differently to the products they use. Coconut oil—which has anti-microbial properties—could, potentially, disrupt vaginal flora. So I recommend taking a break from lubrication for women who experience recurrent yeast infections or chronic bacterial vaginosis.

    You're trying to conceive...

Dr. Ney: It is also important to note that lubricants can affect sperm motility, so I advise against lubrication while trying to conceive.

And if you're NOT trying to conceive.

Dr. Ney: Oils, however, do compromise the integrity of latex, so don't use oils with a latex condom.

So I guess you can only use coconut oil for lube when............ you're not using latex condoms, you're not trying to make a baby, you're not worried about STIs, your genitals aren't irritated by it, AND you don't mind smelling like sunscreen?

    K THANKS GWYN!
