Somebody please save Vanessa Hudgens.

1. Acne adverts are particularly skilled at convincing us that flawless models are riddled with acne.

2. They've pretty much always been this way. Exhibit A is Aaron Paul in 1999, battling a particularly bad case of invisible acne.

3. Exhibit B is a young, spot-free Felicity Jones being absolutely disgusted in her beauty.

8. And they often have to point out the spot to us, because honestly otherwise it's not visible to the naked eye.

10. In this one they just surrounded the model with problems you might have, but she doesn't. Just so you're aware that this is only a problem you have.

11. We all know it's impossible to hire anyone with actual acne, but it is possible to hire an actor to play the role of acne.

12. This guy doesn't need spots, because if you shout it loud enough with a megaphone then everyone will believe you have acne.

13. Although they don't actually show acne, the adverts do make sure to highlight a destructive side effect of it: breaking pencils.

18. The worst is when they're really having a hard time squeezing away that ghost pimple.

Why don't they at least do a little prosthetic pimple?

19. Finally, we have this classic where the model exclaims "oh great a pimple!" and we all worry for her health because there is literally nothing there.
