29 Things Only Former Dancers Will Get

There are many perks of being a dancer but the thong is not one of them.

    1. You were always pointing your feet, even when you were just chilling.

    2. And you'd sit in box splits no matter what you were doing.

    3. In the summer you'd practise all your tricks in the garden.

    4. and the feeling you got when you'd finally land a trick was incredible.

    5. You'd spend hours flicking through the dancewear magazine circling the things you wanted for Christmas.

    6. You knew how to do a full face of makeup from a young age.

    7. And you'd perfected the ballet bun.

    8. You understood the magic of a flesh-coloured thong like no human should.

    9. You got your first pair of these bad boys and thought you could be in an NSYNC music video.

    10. Every girl in your class had this character skirt:

    11. And trained in these Lycra trousers.

    12. Even when you thought you'd packed every pair of shoes you owned for classes you'd still forget one.

    13. There would always be that one person who went a little too full out when doing high kicks across the floor.

    14. You always tried to make your friend laugh by making fart noises when you did plies at the barre.

    15. Your character shoes were your first pair of heels.

    16. The hardest decision you had to make was split soles or classic jazz shoes.

    17. And then you'd wear your jazz shoes so much that they'd fall apart.

    18. You got your first pair of pointe shoes and took hundreds of photos in them.

    19. The community hall was your studio.

    20. And your comps were always on a school stage.

    21. The night before a comp you would practise your lyrical faces in the mirror.

    22. You'd be at a competition and all the dance parents would be contorting their children.

    23. You'd make sure to let the rival dance schools know who was boss.

    24. You had to wear shimmer tights for competitions and couldn't understand why even your legs must glitter.

    25. Every song and dance section at a comp had a Hairspray number.

    26. You and your mum spent hours sewing sequins on to your costumes.

    27. You owned a classic lyrical dress like this.

    28. Your parents would always buy the awkward competition photos.

    29. And even though you're no longer a dancer you still know how to tear up the dance floor.
