Idris Elba Just Transformed Himself Into An Incredible Grime Artist

The British actor was clamouring for a feature on the song for months because he "shuts down primetime TV".

Grime artist Skepta has finally got Idris Elba in the booth to spit some bars.

Sometimes you just have to SHUT "dem" DOWN. @Skepta. Do your ting my yout. http://t.co/evDrDr0r5M

In a remix of Skepta's track "Shutdown", Idris appears for a quick verse and It. Is. GLORIOUS.

Everything we could have hoped for.

Idris has been teasing the remix for a few months, first asking to be put on the track in March...

@Skepta Put me on the Remix!!!!!! cus I SHUT DOWN prime TV on the Regular😎.

Before reassuring us a few weeks back that he had something special planned.

“@oscbaker: @idriselba @Skepta When is the #ShutdownRemix out?!?!” Soon come fella

Skepta is one of the top grime stars at the moment, and performed the original track earlier this year on Later... With Jools Holland.

He's been behind club bangers such as "That's Not Me" and "It Ain't Safe" as well.

And also appeared with Kanye, onstage at the BRIT Awards, no less.

Idris' performance on the track doesn't disappoint, as he fills his verse with some choice lines referencing his acting career, including "Ain't nobody else Stringer Bell..."

    And "I murdered ya Luther."

Idris has always shown a love for music, having DJ'd under the name "DJ Big Driis" for several years now.

    It's #ThrowbackThursday time... Remember when #Superman aka @idriselba DJ'd at our #halloween party!?

You can even catch him at Glastonbury Festival this year.

But this is in a whole world of its own. This is a total SHUTDOWN.
