10 Things I Actually Reallyyyyyyyy Loved About "He's All That"

It really was all that.

1. Addison Rae

I knew that there was something special about Addison Rae the moment I saw her dance on the Tonight Show. So it’s unsurprising to me that she’s an absolute joy to watch as a leading actress. 

2. Tanner Buchanan

Netflix

Boy, what a leading man this Tanner Buchanan fellow is! Those marquee idol good looks are exactly what you need in a snazzy romantic comedy like this. He also knows how to act, but I wouldn’t mind if he didn’t. He’s just good to look at.

3. Rachel Leigh Cook

Rachel Leigh Cook must be a pretty good actress, because she did a solid job at playing the mom of Addison Rae's character Padgett. I literally screamed at my screen when I saw they brought her into the remake.

4. Kourtney Kardashian

Netflix

Sometimes, the Kardashians seem akin to the classical Greek Gods of old, due to being embroiled in legendary struggles that mankind can only spectate on from afar. But, every once in a while, the gods must descend from Olympus, and so has Kourtney Kardashian by appearing in this film. As soon as I saw her on screen, I knew this was going to be one of my favorite movies of all time.

5. The rest of the cast

Some people think they’re too cool for TikTok influencers and Disney Channel stars. Those people are pretentious buzzkills, because when you get enough people like that in a room, you know that you’re about to have some fun. Obviously, Addison, Tanner, and Kourtney are the highlights, but the rest of the cast in He’s All That really is “all that.”

6. The social media graphics

Stuff like texting and social media is pretty hard to convey on-screen, because they actually aren't all that visually flashy. And what’s fun about that sort of thing is the feeling of the conversations and the flow of information coming in. However, He’s All That does a fantastic job of using cool graphics to convey the overwhelming feeling of social media apps and how they’re essential to the main character’s perspective on the world. Other movies like The Social Network could never pull off something like this.

7. The social media satire

Much like Rae herself, Padgett is a social media influencer. Rae could’ve easily told the writers to lay off the snark, but luckily, He’s All That does not hold back on all the weird and wild aspects of being an e-celebrity in the modern era. Whether it’s putting on makeup for seemingly “natural” moments, or receiving a flood of mean comments just for something that happened by accident, He’s All That definitely knows all about what happens in real life to social media influencers, and it has a lot of fun making fun of it.

8. The soundtrack

Is that Katy Perry I hear? Because I’m pretty certain her music’s in this movie, along with a bunch of unforgettable tunes that are sure to make you dance. No great movie is complete without a great soundtrack, so you know that He’s All That has gotta have that.

9. The chemistry

I know I already praised the amazing actors and actresses in this movie, but seriously, the way they interact with each other is just too good. It really makes you feel like you’ve been brought into the inner circle of the social media influencer world.

10. The lighting

Sometimes, when I watch movies, the lighting in the movies will be super dark and murky. This makes it pretty hard to see things, especially if I’m watching the movie on a laptop while the sun is out. However, I guess the cinematographers for He’s All That must have had similar issues while watching movies before, because it is brightly lit in every scene. I could clearly see everything that was going on in this movie, which is good considering that film is a visual medium.
