OMG, Disney Just Announced They're Making Three New "Star Wars" Films

Looks like the Force is going to be with us in the early '20s!

OK, so even though the last film in the new Star Wars trilogy, The Rise of Skywalker, hasn't even been released yet, Disney has gone ahead and announced when the next new SW films will hit the big screen.

And it looks like we'll be visiting the "galaxy far, far away..." come Dec. 16, 2022, when the first of three new films will hit the big screen. The next two films will be released on Dec. 20, 2024, and Dec. 18, 2026.

While we literally have no details about what the upcoming three films will be about, we do know it will not involve the Skywalker family, as The Rise of Skywalker is the conclusion to that saga.

We also know the door is open for new characters from the latest trilogy to be involved in future stories. Back in 2017, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy told All Things Star Wars that they were looking at stories after Episode IX involving new characters like Rey, Finn, Poe, and BB-8.

So, there could be more films featuring our new favorite Star Wars heroes! Well, that's if they decide to make a new sequel trilogy...

...'cause Disney and Lucasfilm didn't make clear whether we will be getting three standalone movies, sequel films, or a brand-new trilogy.

And another big question that we didn't get answered is which new series of Star Wars films we'll be getting. Game of Thrones' showrunners, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are working on a set of films, while The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson, is working on his own trilogy.

I guess in the words of Obi-Wan Kenobi, "Patience." We'll probably find out soon enough!!!
