19 Female TV Characters Who Are Definitely Ravenclaws

Wit beyond measure is woman's greatest treasure.

Posted on

1. Fred Burkle — Angel

Warner Bros. Television

Fred is one of the most intellectual characters Joss Whedon ever gave us. She has a wide range of academic pursuits, from the history of the world to complex physics. Her appetite for learning can hardly be quenched, and Ravenclaw would be lucky to have her.

2. Toshiko Sato — Doctor Who

BBC

She's a technology expert and once wrote equations in her own blood while stranded. That's dedication to your knowledge. Tosh is considered a genius by everyone who meets her, and her experiences with telepathy are the kind of experiences Ravenclaws would love to have in spite of the challenges they present.

3. Alexis Castle — Castle

ABC

Alexis is enamored of books and reading. School has always been her top priority — and not for the sake of grades, but for the sake of wisdom. Columbia University is lucky to have her, but she also goes on world trips to enhance her knowledge of anything and everything. She's an adventurous Ravenclaw, but a Ravenclaw nonetheless.

4. Mercedes Jones — Glee

Fox

Creativity is incredibly important to the Ravenclaw, and Mercedes is FULL of it. She's extremely artistic and a talented performer. Her knowledge of different cultures and fine art would be the first thing the Sorting Hat notices about her, and she'd be a shoo-in for Ravenclaw.

5. Rory Gilmore — Gilmore Girls

Warner Bros. Television

This one is a no-brainer because we all know the size of Rory's brain. The girl is addicted to learning. The more Rory knows and discovers, the happier she is. She's a very curious person, always in search of the next intellectual thing. Was there really a doubt in your mind she'd be anywhere other than Ravenclaw?

6. Angela Montenegro — Bones

Fox

Angie is incredibly smart at her job as a forensic facial reconstruction scientist, and she's pretty well versed in her subject. She has background in visual arts, computer science, and biomedical illustration. That's a lot of tough subject matter, but it's important to Angie, so she studies it and studies it well. Any Ravenclaw would be lucky to know her.

7. Liz Lemon — 30 Rock

NBC

Liz represents the nerdy side of Ravenclaw. If you think the Muggleborn Claws don't get excited about Star Wars, think again because they do. Liz likes immersing herself in imaginary worlds and creative ideas more than anything else (except for maybe food), and that's why she's an epic Ravenclaw.

8. Claire Huxtable — The Cosby Show

NBC

Claire is a lawyer and the most successful person she knows, probably. To be a lawyer, you have to be dedicated to books, learning, and creativity. She makes this pretty clear in whatever she does, and she would excel as a member of Ravenclaw House.

9. Tina Belcher — Bob's Burgers

Fox

A must-have for any Ravenclaw is a rich, inner world. In this case, Tina's got you covered. She's always coming up with something exciting, new, and creative. Sometimes, it can get a little crazy, but that's part of what makes her so innovative. Tina's surely a Ravenclaw.

10. Jill "Mouse" Chen — The Carrie Diaries

CW

Mouse is Ivy League-bound, and this is super important to her. Her dream school is Harvard, so she studies hard to get there. But Mouse doesn't get wrapped up in the politics of college admissions. She learns to embrace learning and hopes to get where she wants to be on the way. Her priorities align nicely with Ravenclaw.

11. Lisa Simpson — The Simpsons

FOX

Lisa is a role model for any unabashedly intelligent woman. She's read about every book ever written and not for the sake of saying she did, but because she's genuinely interested in what literature has to offer. She thinks about issues deeply, and she's well-cultured. Lisa is another obvious Ravenclaw.

12. Arizona Robbins — Grey's Anatomy

ABC

Dr. Robbins is a graduate of Johns Hopkins, which is a big freakin' deal for someone in medicine. It means she's really damn smart. Her job is difficult and requires a lot of research, and Arizona is fine with that. As long as she's learning how to be a better doctor, she'll do the learning. Ravenclaw House is impressed.

13. Vivian Banks — The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

NBC

To go from dropping out of school to being a doctor takes some brains, which Vivian Banks definitely has. She's career-minded, but she also places a great emphasis on academia, which Ravenclaw would find especially appealing about her.

14. Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie — Veronica Mars

Warner Bros. Television

Mac is very technologically minded, an intelligence not often represented in female characters on TV. Computers are her lifeblood, and the more she can use them and learn about them, the more awesome she becomes. Her devotion to learning and its complexities make her an obvious Ravenclaw.

15. Amy Santiago — Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Fox

Amy is well-read — We know her relationship with Othello — and she is damn proud of it. Having the facts is important to her and important to a lot of Ravenclaws.

16. Sabrina Collins — Raising Hope

Fox

A creative writer at heart, Sabrina is always interested in what books and culture have to offer. She's interested in the arts, sciences, and mathematics — basically anything you can read or get a degree in. Trying and learning new things are two of Sabrina's passions, making her a perfect Ravenclaw.

17. Ros McCain — Waterloo Road

BBC

Nothing is more important to Ros than school. She is level-headed, mature, and incredibly passionate. That would explain why of all the people she could have crushed on, she crushed on her equally knowledgeable French teacher. Her devotion to academics would wow others, and the Sorting Hat would easily call out Ravenclaw.

18. Mitchie Torres — Camp Rock

Disney

OK, so technically, this is a movie, but it's a TV movie. Not only does Mitchie do well in school, but she's also a talented musician and lyricist. The Ravenclaws would love that about her.

19. Felicity Smoak — Arrow

CW

An MIT grad, Felicity reminds women everywhere that "smart" and "blonde" can go together. Her brains are her number one asset, and she's always ready to use them to save the day. She'd probably be a Ravenclaw prefect.
