And the Oscar goes to...
I think he should have won "Best Actor" in Marriage Story. I still think about the scene where he cuts his arm by accident, not to mention that intense fight. He was also great in The Report and Blackkklansman, just to name a few.
Florence was nominated for Little Women, but she had already conquered us in Midsommar and Fighting With My Family. I have a soft spot for her cooking videos as well.
I still have yet to meet someone who doesn't like Timothée. His portrayal of Elio in Call Me By Your Name was Oscar-worthy and changed the way we all look at peaches.
Her performance in Blue Valentine was heart breaking, and so was Manchester By The Sea. She can deliver a very intense and believable performance, and I have no doubt she will get an Academy Award in this decade.
She has been rocking every movie she has ever been in: Hanna, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, Little Women. Saoirse Ronan is the Meryl Streep of our generation. She's so talented and still so young.
I know she hasn't been in many movies yet, but you just need to see her in Booksmart and Unbelievable on Netflix. They're two roles that couldn't be more different, and she was amazing in both. I can't wait to see what she does next.
An actor surrounded by controversy, nevertheless, he has been acting since he was a young kid (Matt and Ben's Project Greenlight anyone?). I loved him in The Peanut Butter Falcon and Honey Boy, and I wouldn't be surprised if he got some real recognition from his peers in the years to come.
Even if you were not convinced by her performance on The Greatest Showman or as MJ in the new Spider-Man movies, you just need to see her on Euphoria to realize how good she is. She's starring in Dune, and it's just a matter of time before we see her working with more top directors.
I have been a fan since Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain, so I may not be objective, but have you seen him in Nightcrawler? Nocturnal Animals? Prisoners? How is he not an award show regular already?
He's another actor who has been in some major movies, but hasn't gotten a lot of award buzz yet. His performance in The Revenant was intense and not praised enough. I'm looking forward to seeing him in Capone.
Elisabeth Moss starred in Mad Men and The Handmaid's Tale but not any outstanding movies just yet. Her performance in The Invisible Man got really good reviews. She also stars in Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch. It's just a matter of time before we see her at the Dolby Theatre.
James McAvoy is not yet a household name, but he really should be. He previously got buzz for his performance in Atonement, but have you seen him in Split? He was literally 20 different personalities in one movie.
Everyone loves Amy Adams, and I can't believe she hasn't won an Oscar yet! She has shown so much range going from Princess Giselle in Enchanted to haunted powerful woman in Nocturnal Animals, not forgetting Arrival. She has starred in some Academy-loved movies, and it's just matter of time before she wins an Oscar herself.
The Academy loved There Will Be Blood but not enough to give Paul Dano an acting nomination, unlike the BAFTAs. We don't see him as much as we would like, but he came back to our screens with the mini-series Escape At Dannemora.
She gets bad rep because she's on a superhero franchise and various action movies, but I'm a big fan of her since Lost in Translation. Her performance in Marriage Story wrecked me. It was great to see her getting nominated last year for both Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit, and I hope there will be more.
