Ryan Reynolds Urged People To Self-Isolate And Stop The Spread Of The Coronavirus While Shading Celebs At The Same Time

"I think in times of crisis, we all know that it's the celebrities we count on most. They're the ones that are going to get us through this."

Ryan Reynolds is the latest celebrity telling people to stay inside in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus. And, of course, he did it in typical Ryan Reynolds fashion.

In case you've been, I don't know, off-grid roaming the wilderness in Russia with a group of reindeer herders, you might not be aware that the coronavirus is sweeping across the globe.

And celebrities have been doing their bit to encourage people to stay at home and practice social distancing, including Ryan Reynolds, who posted a video on Monday.

Thanking Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau for the nomination to post the video, Ryan started by saying that it was important to "work together to flatten the curve" and slow the spread of the coronavirus.

But this is Ryan Reynolds we're talking about, and he couldn't resist trying to lighten the mood a little bit...

"I think in times of crisis, we all know that it's the celebrities we count on most," he said, completely straight-faced. "They're the ones that are going to get us through this."

"Right after health care workers, of course," he continued. "First responders. People who work in essential services. Ping pong players. Mannequins, they're great. Childhood imaginary friends, sure. Like 400 other types of people."

Switching back to a serious message, Ryan urged people to follow the precautions that have been set in place by government and health officials to try to combat the coronavirus.

Another important message from an important celebrity. Let’s spread the word not the virus. I happily nominate, @stevenpage @Sethrogen and @TerryR49776917 #PlankTheCurve #StayAtHomeSaveLives

"Look, stay at home, practice social distancing, wash your hands," he finished. "We are gonna get through this thing. We’re gonna get through this thing together."

Last week, Ryan and his wife, Blake Lively, both announced that they'd donated $1 million to coronavirus relief efforts, splitting the money between two food banks based in the US and Canada.

Captioning the announcement on Instagram, Ryan wrote: "I think we can all agree, COVID-19 is an asshole." Couldn't have said it better myself.
