This is the Amazon Alexa. It is a technological marvel, mostly because you can basically just have a chat with it and it'll talk back, which is more than most men do but alas, I digress.
However, if you aren't up to date with the latest IRL Black Mirror terror plaguing humanity, then let me be the first to tell you that Alexa is seriously creeping people out because she just keeps randomly laughing without cue or warning.
Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa on my Amazon Echo Dot lets out a very loud and creepy laugh... there’s a good chance I get murdered tonight.
Not one to shy away from a little confrontation, Jimmy Kimmel decided to get an Alexa on his show to ask it what the damn problem is.
To begin with, Alexa was all "what do you mean" and playing dumb when Jimmy straight up asked why it kept laughing.
But when Jimmy persisted, it gave an example of what he was talking about and just laughed manically, which wasn't at all creepy.
"Oh that is nothing, just a funny joke I remembered." Oh ok, the robots are thinking of jokes and laughing at themselves now, no biggie.
"Why did the chicken cross the road? Because humans are a fragile species who have no idea what's coming next."
Which was, of course, followed up with a creepy giggle.
Now I don't know if Alexa is actually that creepy or if Jimmy is pulling a prank to scare us, but it's goddamn working. Black Mirror was right, we're doomed.
