Chrissy Teigen Denied Stealing A Chef's Recipes After She Was Aggressively Called Out On Twitter

"Imagine the ego to think someone is copying you when they haven't heard of you."

Chrissy Teigen has had a pretty eventful couple of days on the internet recently after being involved in a ~situation~ with fellow food writer and critic Alison Roman.

To catch you up to speed, Alison name-dropped Chrissy in an interview, calling it "crazy" that she'd gone on to produce a cookery line at Target following the success of her book Cravings.

"What Chrissy Teigen has done is so crazy to me," Alison told the New Consumer. "She had a successful cookbook. And then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it's just, like, people running a content farm for her."

Chrissy responded to the interview and was clearly hurt by the comments, particularly as she'd apparently been a supporter of Alison's work.

In response to the backlash that ensued, Alison apologised for her comments while Chrissy announced that she'd be taking "a little break" from Twitter after receiving abuse that included calling her children "petri dish babies".

Since then, Chrissy has returned to Twitter and publicly resolved her differences with Alison. Thanking the cookbook author for her apology, Chrissy added: "I still think you are incredibly talented. And in an industry that doesn’t really lend itself to supporting more than a handful of people at a time, I feel like all we have are each other!"

So the boat had been steadied and everything could go back to normal, right? Well, not so fast...

In response to her tweet thread about Alison, someone else jumped into the replies and straight-up called out Chrissy for stealing a recipe.

Chrissy quickly responded, saying she had no idea who "Chef Mike" even was.

@buckwheat1939 @dannychun No idea who chef mike is but he probably wouldn’t be happy to learn that you, a friend of his worthy of calling, is outing him about his impending lawsuit.

"Chrissy, just use YOUR talents and not others," the person said in response, claiming that Chrissy had "pissed off a lot of people" who worked in the industry. "You step in and use their ideas as your own. At least credit the person or persons the idea came from."

When the person added that "Chef Mike" had previously cooked for her family, Chrissy offered to speak to the cook accusing her of stealing the recipe, adding: "Imagine the ego to think someone is copying you when they haven't heard of you."

@buckwheat1939 @dannychun please tell me who this chef mike is? so I can speak to him? I have never stolen a recipe from anyone and I actively talk about the restaurants I love. imagine the ego to think someone is copying you when they haven't heard of you?

Following the exchange, Chrissy didn't seem to be paying the drama too much attention, instead playing Animal Crossing, cooking, and pondering having a bearded dragon as a pet.

These are apparently “pieces of rice” on my face

Let's hope the rest of Chrissy's week is drama-free!
