People Can't Stop Laughing After The Dictionary Got Involved In The Nicki Vs. Cardi Drama

The dictionary loves a little drama apparently.

Just when you thought the drama was all over between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, the whole thing fired up again and things went from 0-100 real, real quick.

To catch you up to speed, Nicki went on air for her Queen Radio show, where she spoke about the situation with Cardi, and in particular the ruckus that went down between them at a New York Fashion Week party back in September.

It turns out that Nicki's Queen Radio episode didn't exactly sit well with Cardi though. Judging by the 13 post Instagram rant that she went on, I think it's safe to say that she wasn't happy at all.

With all of this going down, everybody seemed to be watching in real time as the drama unfolded, including the dictionary. Yes, the actual goddamn dictionary.

It started when, in one of her Instagram videos, Cardi said the word "footages" and obviously it didn't take long for the word to take over Twitter.

Spelling Bee: “ok, your word is ‘#footages’” Me: “may you use that in a sentence, please?” Spelling Bee:

It was basically all people could talk about.

I know Cardi telling the truth bc she said footages.

if Cardi says it’s footages then it’s footages. we can talk it out or we can fight it out, i’m with whatever.

So when there's a word that's causing a little bit of confusion, you can always rely on the dictionary to set the record straight, and that's just what happened.

    Yes, Cardi B said "footages." Yes, it's a word. It's also trending on https://t.co/OeJELgy3YL. https://t.co/iRNd3L8qsR https://t.co/Daw7JPn4SY

And once the dictionary got involved, people were left shook because let's be honest...did you know "footages" was a word?

All of this back and forth between Cardi and Nicki shouldn't distract you from the fact that "footages" is in the dictionary and none of us knew

Dictionary dot com confirming "footages" is indeed a word

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would wake up today and learn that “footages” is a real word in the dictionary.

This isn't the first time the dictionary has jumped into the middle of a drama. Back in July, dictionary.com threw a little shade in the direction of Kylie Jenner by revealing what the actual definition of "self-made" was.

Self-made means having succeeded in life unaided. Used in a sentence: Forbes says that Kylie Jenner is a self-made woman. https://t.co/sr8Ncd7s5A https://t.co/ehEL7Cf6KV

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what drama the dictionary gets involved in next.
