Poet and broadcaster Ian McMillan, presenter of Radio 3's weekly 'cabaret of the word' The Verb, answers ten questions about the great poet, who would have been 100 this year. Lots more about Thomas, including poems to listen to and a video about his London haunts, on the Radio 3 web site.

The BBC's picture archive is called Elvis. Nobody knows why. It's awesome. There are over three million photographs in there, from the whole ninety-year history of the Corporation, and lots of them have literally never been seen. Benjamin Britten was a twentieth Century musical giant. He'd have been 100 years old this year so Radio 3 spent the weekend in Suffolk celebrating his centenary. Twenty works by the composer were performed by choirs, ensembles and soloists including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Kuss Quartet, Alan Oke, Ben Johnson, Ensemble 360 and hundreds of voices, from local groups and professional choirs like the BBC Singers. It was spectacular. Listen to all the works performed, in full, on the Radio 3 web site.
