Typhoon Haiyan: New Drone Footage Shows Destruction Of Tacloban, Philippines

THIS unique drone footage shows the devastation left behind in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. British photographer Lewis Whyld finished building the miniature helicopter only a week before the storm hit the Phillipines on November 7. The remote-controlled heli-camera shows the remains of the city of Tacloban, the capital of Leyte Province and one of the hardest hit areas, where winds reached upwards of 200mph. Entire areas of the city were flattened, with homes destroyed and survivors left to scavenge among the wreckage. The death toll from Typhoon Haiyan currently stands at more than 4,000, but the deadly storm has affected the lives of more than 9 million people. While international aid is filtering into Tacloban and other affected cities, the clean-up operation is likely to continue for years to come.
