31 "Harry Potter" Book Scenes We Wish Were In The Movies

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which Harry Potter book scenes should have made it into the movies. Here are the magical results.
1. Harry's GREEN eyes.

Apparently they tried to give Daniel Radcliffe colored contacts, but they agitated his eyes. They should have at least cast a young Lily with the blue eyes.

2. Peeves, a Hogwarts poltergeist.

Peeves was originally in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie, played by Rik Mayal, but his character was cut last minute.
3. The deathday party.

It was a celebration for Nearly Headless Nick to commemorate the anniversary of his death.
4. The story behind Moony (Lupin), Padfoot (Sirius), Wormtail (Pettigrew), and Prongs (James Potter).
Black, Pettigrew, and Potter all became Animagi to join Lupin when he transformed into a werewolf.
5. Winky the house-elf and her drinking problem.

She belonged to the Crouch family, but was dismissed by Barty Crouch Sr. after being found holding a wand in the forest when the Dark Mark was cast at the Quidditch World Cup. She relocated to Hogwarts, but suffered from depression and picked up a serious Butterbeer-drinking problem.

6. Rita Skeeter and the fact that she's an unregistered Animagus (beetle).
That's how she got so much information for her stories.
7. The Sphinx and her riddle in the maze during the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament.

She gave Harry a riddle to solve for easier passage and a clue to what creature he would have to defeat.
8. When Barty Crouch Jr. received the Dementor's kiss and couldn't corroborate the story about Voldemort's return.

9. Ludo Bagman's bet and the Triwizard prize money that Harry gives to Fred and George to fund their joke shop.
That money didn't come from thin air!

10. When Dumbledore sends Petunia a Howler to remind her that Harry must stay with her in order to remain protected by Lily's bloodline.
11. When Molly encounters a boggart and sees her whole family die.

12. Neville's parents at St. Mungo's and the run-in with Gilderoy Lockhart.
This was the first time Ron and Hermione found out about Neville's parents.

13. When Marietta tells Umbridge about Dumbledore's Army, not Cho Chang.

Hermione jinxed the D.A. signup list, and anyone who ratted them out would have "SNEAK" pimpled on their face, which is what happened to Marietta.
14. The portable swamp the Weasley twins left for Umbridge.
Flitwick eventually removed it, but left a patch as a tribute to the comedic duo.
15. The prophecy and the fact that Neville could have been the Chosen One.
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies."
The description fits both Harry and Neville.
16. When Harry is completely devastated from losing Sirius and he takes it out on Dumbledore.
Harry gets so angry that he smashes Dumbledore's possessions to deal with his grief.

17. Kingsley Shacklebolt's and the minister of magic's relationship with the Muggle prime minister.
Fudge/Scrimgeour would tell the Muggle prime minister of anything that affects the Muggle world. Kingsley was assigned to protect him, posing as a secretary.

18. Background on the Horcruxes and the Gaunt family flashback in Half-Blood Prince where you learn about Tom Riddle's family.

Riddle's mother, Merope, married and had a child with a Muggle man who was tricked and put under a love potion. Voldemort cannot love because he was conceived from a loveless union.

19. Harry and Ginny's real first kiss.
It happens in front of tons of people in the Gryffindor Common Room after they win the Quidditch Cup.
20. When Harry sees the diadem on the wig in the Room of Requirement without knowing it was a Horcrux.

21. The fight between Tonks and Lupin about their relationship.

"You see!" Tonks said in a strained voice. "She still wants to marry him, even though he's been bitten! She doesn't care!"
"It's different," said Lupin, barely moving his lips and suddenly looking tense. "Bill will not be a full werewolf. The cases are completely-"
"But I don't care either, I don't care!" said Tonks, seizing the front of Lupin's robes and shaking them. "I've told you a million times..."
"I've said all along you're taking a ridiculous line on this, Remus."
"I am not being ridiculous," said Lupin steadily. "Tonks deserves someone young and whole."
"But she wants you," said Arthur Weasley with a small smile. "And after all, young and whole men do not necessarily remain so."

22. When Harry yelled at Lupin in Grimmauld Place, but was later named Teddy Lupin's godfather.

Despite their very upsetting argument about fatherhood, Lupin delivered the happy news to Harry at Bill and Fleur's beach house.
23. When Harry and Hermione visit Harry's old home (preserved in its ruined state) and see the messages of support from visitors.
24. Wormtail's death.

When Harry reminded Wormtail that he owed him his life, he turned his own silver hand on himself and strangled himself.
25. When Harry uses the Cruciatus Curse on Amycus Carrow because he spat in McGonagall's face.
"I see what Bellatrix meant, you need to really mean it."
26. S.P.E.W. and the real kiss between Ron and Hermione.
"Hang on a moment!" said Ron sharply, "We've forgotten someone!"
"Who?" asked Hermione.
"The house-elves, they'll all be down in the kitchen, won't they?"
"You mean we ought to get them fighting?" asked Harry.
"No," said Ron seriously, "I mean we should tell them to get out. We don't want any more Dobbies, do we? We can't order them to die for us—"
There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.

28. Percy's feud with the family and Fred's real death.

They left out some key info, specifically the part about Voldemort using Harry's/Lily's blood to resurrect himself and it actually being a big mistake on his part.
30. When Voldemort's curse backfired in the Great Hall (because the Elder Wand cannot harm its true master) and he falls to the ground, resulting in the human death Tom Riddle was so afraid of.

31. When Harry goes to Dumbledore's study after the battle and fixes his first wand with the Elder Wand in Deathly Hallows.
Harry is met by applause and cries when he sees Dumbledore in his portrait. He then repairs his wand and returns the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's grave.
