This Photographer Took Magical Christmas Portraits Of Sick Children And Yes, I’m Crying

I'll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.

Spending the festive season in hospital as a child can be very lonely. So, to spread some Christmas cheer, photographer and digital artist Karen Alsop surprised kids at Melbourne's Monash Hospital.

She set up a studio in the hospital and invited the children to have their portrait taken. And in true holiday spirit, she also brought Santa Claus along to pose with the kids.

“I’ve always felt for the children who are unable to leave the hospital during this season because at a time when the world is joyful, their pain is even more evident," Alsop said in a statement.

But Alsop did more than just take Santa snaps, later placing the children and the big guy in the red suit into evocative Christmas scenes.

See... it's like magic!

Tell me, what's more heartwarming than a baby sleeping soundly in Santa's fluffy cuddles?? 😭

"I wanted to give them a gift that brings hope and I wanted to free them [from the confines of the hospital ward], at least in a creative sense," Alsop said.
