1. First of all, they speak up for what they believe in.

"This is a photo from my city’s Women’s March. It’s one of my favorite photos of myself, despite the fact that I'm not wearing makeup. I was genuinely happy and felt so empowered, and I think that's what really matters."

2. They do their best to overcome their depression for a little bit and explore.

"This picture was taken on a day when my depression decided to leave me alone for a while, so I hung out by the Seine and there was a wall you could write on. I struggled so hard to write Je suis grande, meaning 'I’m tall' (which is not true) in French."
