The following questions were taken from the Harvard Dialect Survey, conducted in 2002 by Bert Vaux and Scott Golder, who set out to highlight the linguistic differences across various regions of the United States.

The results of this survey were ultimately used, in part, to build the famed New York Times Dialect quiz, as well as our own quiz, which attempts to guess your location.
