19 Non-Hit Singles From Popular Artists That Are, Frankly, Better Than Some Hit Singles

Sometimes the B side should've been the A side.

We recently asked members of our BuzzFeed Community, "What's your favorite non-hit single from an artist and/or band that everyone loves?" and, HOLY HECK, did they come through with the recommendations! Here are just a few of the most underrated songs by your faves:

    1. "Fools Gold" by One Direction

"They were branded as bubble gum pop with their singles so heavily that the rest of their music got lost to anyone who wasn’t a fan buying all the albums. A lot of their non-single tracks are really good!"

    2. "Rain" by Kid Kudi

    Wicked Awesome/Universal Republic

"You can only find this song on YouTube, and it'll rip your heart out. It’s so raw and emotional, and it really deserves more credit than it gets."

    3. "Lover to Lover" by Florence + the Machine

"Only a couple of her songs have been hits in the traditional sense, but she’s made so many underappreciated masterpieces."

    4. "All Too Well" by Taylor Swift

    Big Machine

"It was not released widely as a single, but it is her best song. Every fan has heard it, of course, but everyone else should too!"

    5. "Tomorrow Is Today" by Billy Joel

"This song is on his first album, Cold Spring Harbor. There were issues rendering the song (cause, you know, it was 1971), which caused Joel's voice to sound a bit higher-pitched, but the lyrics hit very close to home and the emotion in his voice along with the piano accompaniment is tearjerking. It's one of my personal favorites of his, but it feels like no one's listened to it."

    6. "5 Year Plan" by Chance the Rapper

"It's literally one of his best songs. It's inspirational and includes Randy Newman. I wish more people would talk about this one."

    7. “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran

"It’s so good and definitely a song I can listen to over and over again. It’s also a much a better love song than 'Thinking Out Loud,' in my opinion, which is from the same album."

    8. "And Your Bird Can Sing" by the Beatles

"It’s very underrated and super amazing! The guitar alone just makes you feel happy!"

"Everyone knows him for his cover of 'Hallelujah,' but his original songs are just as beautiful! His raw emotion in all of his songs is unmatched and — when you add his and his father’s life stories into the mix — it makes his songs even more haunting!"

    12. "Silver Springs" by Fleetwood Mac
