Thor And Valkyrie Almost Kissed In A Deleted Scene From "Avengers: Endgame" And, TBH, It's Hilarious

Thor, God of Misreading Every Romantic Situation.

HIYA, BLAH BLAH BLAH SPOILER-Y SPOILER POST HERE. Look, y'all know the drill by now, it's been two weeks — if you haven't seen Avengers: Endgame, what even are you doing? How did it make THAT much money?! Come back when you've seen it, k BYE.

Anyway, in a movie as long and involved as Avengers: Endgame, there's BOUND to be some scenes that — no matter how great — HAVE to end up on the cutting room floor, just for the sake of runtime.

Well this week, during an interview with SiriusXM, directors Anthony and Joe Russo were asked if they had to cut any scenes from the three hour film that they particularly liked, and they revealed that there was actually a little (not at all) romantic moment between buddies Thor and Valkyrie that we didn't get to see.

At the tail end of the film — after Tony Stark's funeral — Thor and Valkyrie have a heart-to-heart while overlooking the beautiful landscape. Thor reveals he has no plans to return to Asgard as king and passes off the metaphorical crown to Valkyrie. It's a sweet moment between to best buds.

However, it appears in an unedited, improvised version of the scene, Thor was FULLY misreading the moment, which led to a silly-but-very-on-brand exchange between the two.

"If you remember at the end of the movie, Thor is saying goodbye to Valkyrie and he's basically turning over Asgard to her," Anthony said. "Since it was the ending, we wanted to keep it tight, but he had this beat with Valkryie where she puts her hand on his shoulder and he leans in for a kiss."

"But then she jerks back and goes, 'What are you doing?!' and he goes, 'Oh, I thought that touch...' and she was like, 'No, that was, like, a goodbye touch.' And it was a really funny beat, but we had to cut it."

"Yeah, it was really cute," Joe said. "And [that scene] was mostly improvised by the two of them, so it was very funny."

So, yeah, there ya have it. Valkyrie remains the true King of Asgard and Thor remains the God of Misreading Every Romantic Situation, but their friendship is everything and I will not settle until I get my buddy movie starring just the two of them.
