Here's How The "Aladdin" Remake Compares Side-By-Side With The Original

You ain't never had a friend like me (except once back in 1992).

So let's cut to the chase, the new Aladdin trailer dropped this week and, ya'll, it looks positively MAGICAL.

    Unbelievable sights! Indescribable feelings!

While the film definitely has a flair all it's own, as a life-long Disney fanatic, it's difficult not to notice the MANY nods to the framing and layout of the original.

So, here's how some of the classic moments showcased in the full-length trailer compare to the 1992 original:

We begin, of course, with the titular Aladdin (Mena Massoud) staying ~one jump ahead~ of some bumbling guards with some expert-level parkour moves:

Then, we see the stunning Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott) in disguise, the VERY moment our beloved street rat sees her for the first time:

And Aladdin appears JUST as immediately enamored with her in the live-action version as the animated one:

We also see a few glimpses of Mr. Royal Vizer himself, Jafar (Marwan Kenzari), who...let's be real, has experienced the glow-up of the century:

Next, as promised by Jafar in his voiceover, we see the incredible Cave of Wonders (which is, shockingly, not a euphemism):

While inside the Cave of Wonders, we get a closer looks at the absolutely ADORABLE Abu, Aladdin's mischievous primate-in-crime:

Aladdin approaches the lamp with caution, while he's surrounded by a virtual butt-ton of gold:

Then, after Aladdin rubs the lap (which again is, shockingly, not a euphemism) we see the all-powerful Genie (Will Smith), who is certainly blue (da ba dee da ba daa):

We also get a little snippet of the Genie performing his iconic tune, "Friend Like Me," which smacked me over the head with a type of nostalgia that I wasn't prepared to feel on a weekday:

Once outside of the Cave of Wonders, Aladdin asks the Genie to "make him a prince" and, a few puns later, we see Aladdin as Prince Ali (perhaps you've heard of him? He's got the monkeys, let's see the monkeys!):

But let us not forget, at the end of the day, this is a LOVE STORY. We see Prince Ali ask Princess Jasmine the ultimate question, "Do you trust me?", mirroring the moment in the original that ruined all non-animated men for me until my mid-20's:

Then the two take off on their magic carpet ride, belting "A Whole New World," immediately sending goosebumps down every part of me covered in skin:

The trailer then goes on to show a few more quick flashes, including a glimpse of the Genie in his human form performing what HAS to be the ultimate wingman song, "Prince Ali":

And the part of the original that no one talks about when Jafar straight-up tries to The Godfather Aladdin by tying him to a weight of some kind and dropping him into the ocean:

And this part where Princess Jasmine looks hella mad, which I'm hoping is the part in the original when she's all "I am NOT a prize to be won!":

So yeah, there ya have it! Are you pumped to see this?! What part of the trailer was your favorite? Please share in the comments below!
