A normal family moves to Maine, when they come across a pet sematary near their new home. Their cat dies, so they bury it there, but they're shocked when their fur baby suddenly comes back to life, albeit a little grumpier than they left. Following this seemingly-magical event, the family unexpectedly suffers an unspeakable loss in the form of their young child. Dad is devastated and desperate, which leads him to bury the child in the pet sematary in hopes they'll ALSO come back to life, like the cat. She does. But this is KING, honey, so nothing is what it seems.
2. Shazam! (April 5)

The superhero tale follows street-wise Billy Batson (Asher Angel), a 14-year-old boy who has been placed into a new foster family. When Billy defends Freddy against some dick-ish bullies, he proves his worth and is chosen as the "Champion" to possess the powers of Shazam, an ancient wizard. These powers enable Billy to turn into an adult, god-like superhero (Zachary Levi). Basically, think Tom Hanks' character in Big...except with super powers.
3. High Life (April 5)

Just do yourself a favor and watch this trailer because it's absolutely WILD. After a troop of criminals are sent into space on a mission to find alternative forms of energy, Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his artificially-created daughter find themselves hurtling towards a black hole. This space thriller looks incredibly weird and absolutely horrifying and I am here for it ALL DAY.

Shy, socially-anxious Violet has big dreams of becoming a pop star and leaving her small European hometown in the dust. However, when she decides to enter a local singing competition, she is forced to decide what she's willing to give up for fame. An story filled with questions about integrity, passion, and, of course, music, this one is sure to be an emotional ride.
5. Little (April 12)

That's right, I'm about to reference Tom Hanks' Big for a SECOND time in this post, except here, we have that film's exact OPPOSITE serving as the plot. After being super-mean to a child for no reason, business mogul Jordan (Regina Hall) is cursed to live her life as a 13-year-old version of herself. With only the help of her exhausted assistant (Isaa Rae), Jordan must find a way to reverse the curse before her career and personal life fall apart.
6. Missing Link (April 12)

Bored of his solitary life, Mr. Link decides it's time for him to join the real world. Only one issue, he happens to be 8 ft tall and covered from head to toe in fur. The animation looks absolutely amazing and the voice cast for this movie is WILD, including such talent as Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana, Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Timothy Olyphant, and Zach Galifianakis.
7. Hellboy (April 12)

Based on the iconic comic book series by Mike Mignola, this story follows Hellboy (David Harbour), a supernatural superhero summoned directly from hell. While this is by no means Hellboy's first on-screen adventure, this reboot sees Hellboy battle an ancient sorceress (Milla Jovovich) who is bent on revenge. Scary danger! Awesome effects! So much sass! This movie is destined to raise a little ~hell~.
8. The Curse of La Llorona (April 19)

If you ever had a nightmare as a child involving a horrifying woman trying to steal you...well, here's the movie version of that. The film tells the story of La Llorona, also known as the "Weeping Woman," is a significant figure in Latin folklore who is searching for her tragically lost children. However, in the meantime while she's looking for them, she takes other lost children and claims them as her own. Hey, no thanks!
9. Avengers: Endgame (April 26)

After Thanos' snap rid the universe of half its population, the remaining members of the Avengers are forced to move on. However, being earth's mightiest heroes, they can't just "move on," and instead focus their energy on finding a way to undo the horrific events of the previous film by doing "whatever it takes." If you see no other movie this YEAR, you simply have to see this one.
