So, over the past couple of weeks, there have been some ~rumors~ circulating about a possible return to Middle Earth via Amazon.
But today, this rumor was CONFIRMED from the mouth of the beast itself.
YUP, YOU READ THAT RIGHT: Amazon confirmed today that it will be developing a Lord of the Rings TV series!
“The Lord of the Rings is a cultural phenomenon,” Amazon's Sharon Tal Yguado said in a statement. “We are honored to be working with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line on this exciting collaboration."
But before you panic about what this means for Peter Jackson's trilogies, the statement went on to say that while this TV series will be "set in Middle Earth," this adaptation will "explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring."
Overall, as a fan of the work, I'm pretty pumped to see what's in store, just bummed I'm going to have to wait a while.
I'm excited! Much like the Beacons of Gondor, this shit is going to be LIT.While LOTR is my precious, I wish they'd just let it fall into shadow. As long as it's new content, I'll go there AND back again. No to all of this (but good puns, TBH).
