THE 5 Party Codes

If you follow these codes of party etiquette, then you're good to go....

1. Don't say "relax", "calm down" or "chill out" during a hardy belly laugh

Nobody likes a kill joy! If everyone is having a good time and being safe, who are you to say "relax"? Go home DEBBIE DOWNER!

2. Peer Pressure....YES, you read correctly...

Don't give your buddy strange looks or poke fun (even if YOU think it's harmless or you're doing them a favor). Know when "fun" becomes bullying.

Have you ever felt "the night would have been a lot better if I was sober, but my buddies wouldn't leave me alone so drank to shut them up". Don't be that person to pressure somebody. Peer pressure could be urging your "friends" to do ANYTHING against their will, not just substances.

No means NO!

If you are a REAL friend, respect their wishes.

3. Don't Stare

Staring is rude and the first thing your mother taught you not to do. Do you enjoy being stared at? No, so don't stare at other people.

There are people that love the attention, so they say. But NOBODY enjoys a cold stare dead in the eyes. That is an UNSPOKEN invitation for physical altercation.

To clarify, a "dead stare" is different then a romantic stare ( types of stares will addressed in a separate post).

4. Making the Conversation ALL About You

The 2nd worst thing is getting stuck "talking" with a person who can't converse. A conversation is a verbal, vertical, BACK AND FORTH activity. If you can't do it right, then try it alone first!

Talking with a one sided conversationalist is akin to having a selfish sex partner (1st worst thing)!

5. Bad Breath and/or Body Odor

Have you spoke to a person with dragon breath? What did you do? You started to smile and nod while slowly backing up. The rest of the evening was spent trying to avoid this person.

Play your part by ALWAYS brushing your teeth, carrying mints and checking your breathe throughout the evening; be mindful of your various smells.

To help a buddy out...

Offer a mint; take one even you don't need it. You will save the person from being avoided and humiliated (you would want somebody to offer you a mint).

The body odor problem...

A person can shower, put a crap load of baby powder on followed by deodorant and still get B.O. Or a person may suffer from poor hygiene.If you are one of those people who get B.O, don't be in denial. Ladies, carry portable deodorant in your purse. Men, carry Axe in the car or small bottle in your pocket.
